    Strict NAT router DLINK DIR-850L

Alrighty, maybe we need to go into a bit more detail.

My modem is a THOMSON DCM 476 I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it.. When I check my wan settings I have an IP address starting with 192.168 which seems to be a private IP address. I do believe my ISP is providing me with a public ip though..
The router Is acting as a DHCP server and I don't know how to configure it other wise.

Port triggering/forwarded is OFF. Upnp is enabled, latest firmware installed. NAT filtering open .Multiple reboots on everything and still no luck.

Have you checked whether your ISP has you on carrier grade NAT?

Some ISP's are too tight fisted to upgrade their networks to ipv6.

So they get round the fact that they have run out of ipv4 address by forcing some customers onto CG-NAT. With CG-NAT they can give loads of customers the same public IP address. With my ISP CG-NAT customers have public IP addresses beginning with 100.xxx.xxx.xxx.
Thankfully my ISP lets you opt out if you are a gamer.

With CG-NAT it is very difficult if not impossible to get a consistently open NAT.

You can check your public IP by going to www.whatsmyip.org

Thank you very much for the response. Those are some good points. I just got off the phone with my isp and they confirmed that I do have my own public IP address, and the cable modem is already bridged.

I feel like I'm at my witts end here Strict NAT router DLINK DIR-850L :(

Just noticed you said you have an IP address beginning 192.168 in the WAN settings.

This makes it look like your modem has it's own NAT.

I just checked my router(TP-LINK) and in my WAN settings it shows my public IP address not a private one.

If your modem does have it's own NAT then you will effectively be behind a double NAT.

Also how are you reserving your IP address for the xbox.

From past experience I have found that having the IP settings in the xbox set to anything other than automatic stops the UPnP from working.

Also the fact that you are using a d-link worries me a bit as I have one(different model number) in the post due to the fact that the network hardware forums says that they can have multiple consoles connected with open NATS.

My d-link should hopefully arrive tomorrow. If I get open NATs on all my consoles I will tell you how I have it set up.

I actually thought it was my router supporting upnp poorly so I went out and purchased a netgear nighthawk ac1900 r7000.

Addresses are reserved through the address reservation area on the router and consoles are set to obtain ip automatically.

If my router does have its own nat, is there a way to change this? I purchased this router after looking at the multiple console support for the ac1900 on this website assuming it would be hook up and go but I was wrong :/

i found that page as well. Unfortunatley that ip only opens up a status page for the thomson modem. You cannot edit, or change anything :/.

Other searches suggest that the Thomson is only a modem and doesn't have a NAT so that can't be the problem anyway.

Have you tried factory resetting the Netgear and tried setting up again?

A more drastic action would be factory resetting your xbox one. Means you have to redownload everything but saves should be stored safely in the cloud. Although not sure it would be worth doing this if 2 Xboxes are showing strict NAT.

someone over at netgear had suggested disabling SIP. Ill give that a try when i get home and hopefully some luck.

I did factory reset the netgear after the firmware update.

    I just received my D-Link DIR-868L today.

For the first time ever I have an open NAT in both my 360 and my xbox one at the same time.

I've checked the java UPnP portmapper and my UPnP is doing exactly what it's meant to do.

I have 4 devices switched on that all require port 3074.

    COD:Ghosts on ps4

    COD:BO2 on ps3

    Xbox 360

    Xbox one

and to my amazement all the NATs are open.

I checked the port mapper and for the first time ever my 360 is not using port 3074 it's actually using port 19394

My xbox one is using port 54568

Port 3074 is actually routed to my ps4 which has COD:Ghosts running.

    So UPnP is working properly.

This is straight out of the box. I have done no configuration. I checked and SPI is disabled by default. Not sure if that makes a difference but i'll leave that alone. I do have a firewall on my laptops anyway.

I haven't even done any address reservation yet either. I'll wait and see if I start having problems before doing that.

Assuming your Dlink has the same UPnP support as mine I can't see why it didn't work for you. Maybe the SPI?

Did diabling SIP on your Netgear help?

  12. your wan IP should not be:

    192.168 a private one....

can you log in your Modem?

Most IP´s of Cable Modems are 192.168.100.1 - they have sometimes DHCP running. Can you check this and disable DHCP (ask your provider if you can do this)? - you then have to restart the Modem.

After Restart you should also restart your Netgear and then it should get an public WAN IP.

I have a Motorola Surfboard Modem and My WAN IP is public - DHCP is disabled in this modem.

So I finally figured it out .. My set up that the cogeco tech hooked up went modem>Asa(Internet phone)>router ..

The Asa was assigning my router a private IP address, which I'm assuming was causing s double nat.

Anyhow thank you everyone for your help. Once I switched the set up around properly, everything worked just plug and play , not sure if I needed too but I left the addresses reserved for the xbox's
