Strict NAT - is it me or is it live?

So i know live is having some issues at the moment so i am just wondering if the Strict NAT type is due to their network or due to mine, because i can't tell.

I have a D-link 868L router which is hooked up to my Comcast modem. I am running my xbox on a lan cable and the console is telling me im getting Download: 100Mbps(and it shows! i downloaded the halo patch in like 45 minutes) and i'm really just unsure why
its strict, although assuming its just the live network at this point.

My ps4 runs on a type 2 NAT so i would assume the xbox would do the same (my brothers 360 runs on a type 2 Nat when its hooked up).

Hopefully im not repeating anyone's questions as i didn't really look because everyone situation is a little bit different due to different routers/modem connections etc....

If someone could clarify why it's strict I'd appreciate it. And if you need anymore information about my network settings from me just ask.

Hey, it is likely your NAT Type is set to Strict or Moderate.

It is advised you set it to Open so you can hear others.

I have the same router as you.

Mine went strict recently too for the first time ever.

You should be able to force the NAT open by running a multiplayer test then pressing both triggers and bumpers at the same time to bring up the detailed network screen. Once you see this screen press 'A' and it should force open the NAT.

Mine has been open again since doing this.

Also do not use port forwarding or DMZ if someone tells you to. You will cause loads of problems.

I have all 4 consoles too and 99% of the time I have open NATs in them all.

I believe there is a bug in instant on mode on the xbox one that can cause the NAT to go strict and MS are apparently working on a fix for this but I have no information on when the fix will be out.

I can't get on XBL either and Nat Type comes up as Strict. Is Xbox Live down again?

Try doing a full shut down of the xbox. Press and hold the power button for about 5-10secs until the console shuts down.

Once console has fully shut down and the light on the power brick is orange disconnect the power

Next unplug your router and wait a minute before switching back on.

Once router has fully booted up and connected to the internet switch the xbox one back on and check the NAT. If it's still strict do the multiplayer test trick I mentioned earlier.
