  1. Strict NAT after port fowarding

Hi, I went to get on RB6 Siege and I couldn't play a game because my NAT was strict. My Xbox usually isnt strict but the last couple of days it has been, I opened all Xbox One ports and RB6 ports to no avail. Already reset the router & Xbox. Don't really
want to do a static IP because I'm lazy. But if that's the only way please guide me. Thank you for your time.

    :)

How can i open my NAT ?

One way to open your NAT is to use port fowarding or DMZ. You can go
    HERE
to read up on NAT. To read about how to configure your dmz or port fowarding you can do a search online for your specific router. If you would like more help please feel free to message me and I would be glady to help you step by step.

    Port forwarding question

I have discovered why my X1 reports a Strict or Moderate NAT sometimes and it's after one of the 360s uses one of the ports the X1 needs. As soon as a Live port is used for a 360 via UPnP, 3074 for example, the X1 drops to Strict.

This is exactly the reason why I use UPnP, because if 360 1 is using 3074, UPnP will map 360 2 to a different port number that grants the same access as 3074 allowing both to communicate with the Live service at the same time, thus granting an Open NAT to all connected 360s. The X1 is not triggering port forwarding via UPnP to utilise this feature, so is the device that suffers when a 360 is in use.

The PS3 used to have a UPnP enable/disable option on the console itself, which I thought was odd, but perhaps if the 360 had this, enabling it would tell the console to use UPnP, which once it uses UPnP to trigger the ports I'm sure it will resolve the multiple device issue.

    For reference:

    • When I have an Open NAT, the X1's Detailed NAT Information says: Your network is behind a cone NAT
    • When I have a Moderate NAT, the X1's Detailed NAT Information says: Your network is behind a port-restricted NAT
    • When I have a Strict NAT, the X1's Detailed NAT Information says: Your network is behind a port-preserving port-symmetric NAT

Port forwarding doesn't work if you don't have a static IP set. The ports need to be assigned to an IP address in order for it to work if you haven't set it up on your Xbox One it will just use a random available IP.

Can you try to provide the following information as accurate as possible ?

What Country/State/Province do you live in?

    Modem brand & model number:

    Router brand & model number:

How many Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles are connected to this router?:

Wired or Wireless (for each console):

    Things you have tried:

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/No/Unknown:

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?:

    Any Error Codes you encounter:

Who is your ISP? (Internet Service Provider):

Or do they all show as strict ?

  7. So, my living room Xbox one is open, can't really check the ps4 as its my roommates who is out ATM. The modem/router is no more then 2 feet away from the Xbox in my living room. My room is right above the router/modem, my Xbox gets a 93% connect to it from
what its say from my Xbox.

Most routers don't allow for multiple NAT enabled devices to use the same ports. A solution could be to add a static IP to your other Xbox One and add that to the DMZ settings of your router so it's placed outside of the NAT firewall. There is however no
guarantee that both your Xbox One devices will have an Open NAT, I think best case scenario the DMZ enabled Xbox One will have OPEN and the other will have MODERATE.

    Static IP Xbox One

This is what I want you to do

    1. On your Xbox while on the home menu press the menu button and select
      Settings
    2. From there you select Network

You might want to write down the information on the right side;Subnet mask, Gateway
    3. You then select Advanced settings This will allow you to configure your IP
    4. You select manual DHCP selection and you will be prompted to enter an IP

Try to make the IP in between 192.168.*.100 and 192.168.*.200

The " * " stands for the subnet which you can copy from your gateway as this can differ for some people gateway usually looks like 192.168.0.1 so just copy the 0 in this case

    5. After that you will be asked for the Subnet which you just copy from what your wrote down

    6. You also just copy the gateway from what you wrote down

You now have a Static IP for your Xbox One

    On to the next step

    Add DMZ

    1. In your web browser go to http://192.168.0.1/ to access the router setup.
    2. Enter your username and password

Default username is admin and default password is password

    3. Click the Firewall tab.
    4. Click DMZ in the side menu to display the DMZ settings.
    5. Do the following:

Check the box to enable DMZ

WAN IP just displays your public IP

Private IP Enter the static IP of your Xbox One that you just created
    6. Click Apply to confirm the settings
    Try
    powercycling
your Xbox to see the results
