Streaming Video Crash: Xbox One Shuts down during Netflix/YouTube

Just bought a brand new XB1 about a week ago and everything was working fine up until two days ago when I tried streaming a video on Netflix and this caused a crash where the video freezes for a few seconds while the audio continues and then the audio
gets distorted and the whole console shuts down. I have tried power cycling, uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, updated the console, switched to power-saving mode, and plugged it straight into the wall rather than a surge protector. None of these steps
seemed to help. Although, weirdly I tried watching a short youtube video this morning and it did not crash whereas normally it only takes about a minute or so to crash. I don't know if this is because I left the XB1 unplugged all night and have not extensively
tested it yet but will do so later tonight and see if the crash happens again. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, what fixed it?

    :)

  2. Xbox freezes and shuts down when watching Netflix or YouTube.

This started after the last update. Sometimes when watching YouTube (or Netflix) it will freeze the picture and the audio will stutter real bad then boom it shuts down. Xbox is in an open place and so is the power brick and it's never been hot when it shuts
down, happened once when I turned the Xbox one went to YouTube and played a video for 30 seconds. It plays games just fine never shuts down on me during that. Could the latest update be the issue?

  3. Netflix/xbox video will not play. And Netflix displays peoples text messages.

Netflix launches and will buffer videos but at varying percentages and then return to the play menu. My xbox 360 and computer play netflix just fine but my xbox one will not. I have opened all the ports needed and down system restarts and cache clearing
but nothing works. Xbox video will do the same thing saying video cannot be played. Also Netflix on my Xbox sometimes will randomly shut down and display someones Facebook page or text messages to the video player. Its a strange thing but rather funny when
you know the person who's texts appear. Anyone know why this happens? Error code that Xbox video displays is: 0xc00d11cd (0xc0262513).

Youtube and other streaming apps work just fine only errors playing videos happen only in Netflix and Xbox video.

Streaming Video Crash: Xbox One Shuts down during Netflix/YouTube

Ok so as an update: I have not had any issues with YouTube anymore, even with long streaming sessions. It's a total mystery to me how the problem just randomly vanished. I have not tried Netflix yet. I will do so and then post whether or not the issue is
    still there.

  5. I have the same issue with Netflix and Amazon streaming, I have tried all the online support suggestions (turned off auto shutoff, made sure its ventilated, and plugged directly into the wall). It still happens randomly after about 30-40 minutes of watching
Netflix or Amazon streaming. I have not tried a long gaming session yet. Has anyone called and got better answer on this yet?

Well mine started doing this about 2 days ago. If I try to stream a movie through netflix or amazon it will shutdown after a minute or 2. Can still play games fine.

Worked perfectly fine before a couple days ago....

  7. Hey everyone!

Sorry to hear about the app crashing issues, I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. Le'ts try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this issue sorted:

    • From the Dashboard, Press the Menu button on your Xbox One controller.
    • Select Settings and then Disc & Blu-ray.
    • Select Persistent Storage and then select Clear Persistent Storage.
    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 5 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Unplug the power cord to your modem, router or gateway.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console, router or gateway.
    • Power on your console and try playing a video on the app that is experiencing the issue.
Give the suggested steps a try and let us know if the issue is continuing to occur.

I saw this and its a step in the right direction:
    forums.xbox.com/.../1896827.aspx

TLDR: turn off wireless and see if wired connection crashes. if wired works great turn off wmm on your router settings or try different network settings for your router.

If you have a really nice router there will be an option for WMM. Be sure that it is DISABLED.

WMM (Wifi Multimedia) also known as WME ( Wireless Multimedia Extension). It includes a Power Save Certification, which allows for devices to save power but in the case of the XBOX ONE will cause it to shut down. You can switch to a WIRED network cable connection
if you can't find the setting to turn it off. WMM/WME are a QoS (Quality Of Service) technology which tries to identify packets and treat them differently based on what they are used for, such as Voice over IP (VoIP) on Wi-Fi phones (VoWLAN), and video streaming.

It's designed to help devices conserve battery life managing the time the device spends in sleep mode. Great for VOIP devices, video phones, and multimedia devices bad for XBOX ONE. Microsoft needs to fix this asap. Until then turn it off.

Thanks @maxamillionX I will keep that in mind in case the problem ever comes back. For now, though the problem seems to have disappeared as mysteriously as it arose. crossing my fingers the ghosts of xbox/netflix/time warner don't come to haunt me again.

regarding the WMM issue though, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I don't think the router can tell the XB1 to go into sleep mode...can it? I have tried to look for information on this and everyone seems to overwhelmingly support keeping WMM enabled.

  10. Has this issue been resolved yet or a fix been discovered? This issue keeps coming back and while it doesn't happen with a wired connection, i use my wired connection for my computer most of the time. A reset of the router seems to have helped for the time
being but the issue most likely will re-occur.

the issue never came back for me. what appeared to have fixed it was keeping it unplugged overnight. not sure if that was an actual fix or not. but so far, it never came back.

Iv tried everything, even keeping it unplugged overnight. The problem still persists. I noticed it happened after the first of the year. Is their a way to check for corrupted system updates on the Xbox? But a respond from Microsoft besides the " have u tried
a hard reset?" would be nice.

I have done all the steps and still the same. Shuts down after 5 min of video play thought Netflix, YouTube and explorer. I thought it was something to do with the xbox and exchanged it. Just plugged the new one in now and does the same as the previous console.
Really could do with a answer to what is going on

Been on phone to xbox for an hour and there changed all my settings on my virgin media super hub so my Xbox one runs off its own channel (5g instead of standard 2g channel). Apparently I had a lot of network download speed changing rapidly. Then changed
my net type to open. It's done the job and fix the shutting down when streaming video . If you have this problem and you own a new Virgin media super hub. Ring xbox on 0844 381 5185 . They will take you though the steps to sort the problem. Be prepared for
it to take about 1 hour to sort.

    Cheers guys
