A/V out of sync on Xbox 360 apps

    Hi,

I have a Xbox 360 Elite system that has never been able to properly play streaming video apps. When using apps the picture quality looks excellent... full HD on videos and apps that are capable of streaming HD. The problem is that the audio and video are
out of sync so drastically that videos are unwatchable. I feel like I am watching a Hong Kong flick with a poor English dub. That's how badly the A/V is out of sync. This problem seems to be present in every streaming video app I've tried, As far as I
can remember the system has always had this problem with any streaming apps. In the past this wasn't an issue because I didn't subscribe to any streaming video services. But now that I do I regret not trying to solve this issue when I first noticed it,

Here is what I've tried thus far without any improvement:

    • Deleting and re-installing any effected app
    • Connecting to a different TV. Tried two different TV's.
    • Running the sound to a surround sound receiver via an optical cable and running the sound directly to my TV via HDMI cable. Either way the problem persists.
    • Replacing cables. I have tried at least two different cables.. in most cases three or more...for every connection on my 360. I've tried different network (Ethernet) cables, HDMI cables, and optical cables.
    • Various methods of connecting to my router/modem. I've tried a wired connection to my router (which my normal setup), wireless connection to my router, and even a direct connection to my modem. The problem persisted regardless.
    • Switching from surround sound to stereo sound also had no effect.
    • Clearing my console's cache. Which meant I had to re-download all updates for apps.
    • Deleted and re-downloaded my Live profile.
    • Connecting to a different router. I tried two different routers. The problem persisted on both.
    • Changing the video HD to SD had no effect.
    • Tried all the different combinations of audio and video output available through the 360's dashboard. Nothing helped.
    • Adjusting settings within streaming video apps
    • Ensuring that no other device is on the network
I may have tried some other fixes as well. These are just the ones that come to mind right now. Before you suggest the obvious solution my internet speed is ample to support streaming HD video. When I test my speed I get 25 Mbps (give or take 5 Mbps)
down and 5 Mbps (give or take 1 Mbps) up. I get excellent quality streaming video on other devices using my network. In fact, I can move the same A/V and network cables from my 360 to my PS3 (sorry to mention the competition) and use the same TV, router,
etc. on the same apps and everything works well. I would like to use each console on a different TV so I can watch streaming apps on both. But as of now the 360 simply cannot deliver an experience with streaming apps that is watchable.

Here's where things get a little odd. If I use Xbox Video then everything works perfectly. The picture is great and in full HD. And the audio and video are synced. This is really odd to me.

I've tried Vudu, Crackle, Amazon Video, ESPN, Hulu+, and probably some other apps as well. They all have sync problems with the A/V.

I am wondering if perhaps the Elite model was a problematic console? This is my second 360 Elite and the other had problems as well though they were disc/hdd problems.

    Microsoft Edge Crashing Regularly

This seems to happen when streaming video most of the time, and randomly at other times. I can't really dignify if it's sold on video streaming or not, considering that's pretty much the only time it's used on my console. No error messages, just crashes
and returns to the home screen with Edge on the main screen having to be restarted.
Same with me only crashes when streaming videos.

Xbox One Loses Connection When Streaming/Crashes home network

Welcome back JED! Sorry to hear this is still happening. You said previously that your entire home network crashes when this happens. Are you able to tell if that crash happens at your modem, or your router? If your router fails but your modem still appears
to be running normally, then we can narrow down the possibilities for what's causing this to happen.

If you're willing, let's try this: Plug your Xbox One console directly into your modem, bypassing the router. This is a temporary setup. Stream a video on one of the apps and see if your connection goes down again. If it does, then we know
that the issue lies either in the console or the modem. If you're able to stream without issue, then that means something's going on with your router. Maybe it needs a firmware update. Let us know!

    PC connection keeps going

    Hi Mister Gwyther

    Thank you for replying.

I stream using a ethernet cable that goes to my modem. My PC is also connected to my modem via a ethernet cable. I don't use wireless as I found that kept going.

I have tried restarting my modem, unplugging and reconnecting the ethernet cables and checking the network on the PC but none of these work.

I tend to watch stuff that is on my PC by going to System Video Player and selecting my computer than the folder in which the video can be found. I prefer this to WIndows Media Center as it always worked until now. I find with WMC it is a bit hit and miss
as to whether it will load or not.

Any ideas on how to ressolve this problem?

Xbox one S first time setup without TV

Not sure if direct connection is needed - or if you can use network cable and stream video over to pc.

    Or xbox app or similar.
