Streaming Netflix makes my Xbox One turn off

I have had my Xbox One for 7 days. I started using Netflix on the third day, and since the fourth day have been having this issue. I can stream shows for anywhere from an hour to 6 hours but at some point the picture will suddenly freeze and the system will
completely shut down. I have already changed my power settings to keep the system from shutting down due to inactivity (which shouldn't be affecting Netflix) and have always kept the system and the power brick out in the open away from any blockages. I am
not receiving any error codes or messages before shut down nor after the system is turned back on. The system shutdowns only seem to happen with Netflix and not with other apps or games. I have already seen other forum posts about this issue and it is also
listed on other sites forums. The only reply anyone gets it to start their own thread. The Netflix app and/or the Xbox One needs obviously needs a software update to correct this issue. I would appreciate it if someone would take this problem seriously before
all the paying customers take their business to the competition. I paid for a next generation console, and it doesn't seem too much to ask for it to do a simple task like stream Netflix without problems.

If Netflix not streaming in Super-HD on the Xbox One means that much to you, I suggest you try and make Microsoft/Netflix aware of this because I doubt many people who use Netflix on the Xbox One care.

 

Bug: Xbox App cannot turn on Xbox if you turn the Xbox from within the console's menu

First let me say that this Xbox app streaming capability is a dream come true. I have played Xbox in my bed, in random rooms of the house, and even in the bathroom. I'm posting my findings in the forums to help improve the software. Let me know if there's
a better place to submit these issues.

If the Xbox One's power mode is set to "instant on", and you turn off the Xbox from the "More->Turn Off" option in the Xbox App for Windows 10, the Xbox App detects when the Xbox One has completed shut down, so the "Turn Off" option changes to "Turn On,"
and the Xbox One can be remotely turned on Again.

Issue: However, if one is streaming via the app, holds down the Xbox One controller's home button until the shutdown menu appears, and selects "turn console off," the Xbox app disconnects the streaming, but doesn't detect when the Xbox One has turned off.
Therefore, rather than revealing a "Turn on" button, the Xbox App only shows a "connect" button next to the name of my Xbox One. So when I click on "connect," the Xbox app fails to connect and asks me to make sure the Xbox One is still on and connected to
the network.

The current workaround is to close the Xbox App and open it again, so that the "turn on" option becomes available again.

 

I'm having the same issue, but my Xbox One shuts off at random increments of time. I can play Halo or Destiny for hours on end with no issue. As soon as i start streaming Netflix or Xbox Video, it happens. Really wish there was something that could be done
on my end aside from not using any streaming apps. Makes me wish i'd gone with a PS4.

 

I am also having this issue. I have had my console for over a year and it has only recently (within the last week or so) that the console is randomly shutting off with no patterns showing of a rhyme or reason as to why. Just like the others, I can watch
tv and play games for hours without any problems, however the problem frequently occurs while streaming video via netflix or xbox video. My son is upset that he is not able to watch big hero 6, my gf is upset that she can't get through a single episode of
her favorite tv series on netflix due to the xbox randomly turning off, and I'm upset that I paid so much money for a problem like this to go un-addressed. The console is not over heating, it is not turning off due to power settings. Someone get tech support
in here as this is obviously not a problem on the user end.

 

had this same problem, contacted xbox support multiple times and they always claim they have never heard of this problem even though i link many different forums of people posting about this same issue. Now they want me to send in my console for repairs.
I'm pretty disappointed with my purchase and would return it if I could. Microsoft don't care at all to acknowledge or fix this problem and will blame any other source it can.
