Streaming Music Files from PC Drive to Xbox Series X

So I used to be able to open up my music files from my PC and then select to "Play To" my Xbox One S and previously on my Series X. It now seems this is no longer possible as the media never loads on the Xbox Series X following an update to Groove Music.

Any ideas how to go about doing this? I don't want to be able to play Spotify as seems to be the guide on every other help page, I want to be able to play all my own MP3 etc files.

Xbox Music on the Xbox console is used for streaming music using the Xbox Music Pass. Music that you've purchased through Zune can be streamed from your PC or Network Hard Drive using the built-in media player.

Sorry there is no way to do that. It's a sort of 1 way street, you can take music from a USB Flash Drive and put it on your XBOX 360 but you won't be able to take music that's already on your XBOX 360 and then move it to your PC.

You can also try to stream music from your PC to your XBOX 360 using Windows Media Center but it won't send any files from your XBOX 360 to your PC.

They haven't announced what the Series X will do yet.

However on the XB1 you don't play locally stored music, but can stream it from multiple sources (including your own file shares on your network).

There are various apps in the store that let you play music

Corrected when trying to stream music on my XBOX One from my PC using media player app, I do this because playlists are also playable, the music files are no longer found. Video files and picture files are still able to be streamed. I am wondering since
the add of music to onedrive and xbox music did they remove the ability to stream music with media player. on another note the media player on the One is awful compared the players on the 360.
