Streaming Media (Videos/Music) to Xbox One from Windows 10

    Hi,

I'm trying to stream video from my Windows 10 laptop to my Xbox One. I have enabled media streaming on my computer, and it does show the Xbox as a device which can access media content. However, I seem to be unable to actually stream media to xbox; neither
through the new "Cast to Device" (No devices listed), nor through Windows Media Player.

I've had no luck googling the problem, (though I see the others have it too, but no resolution is posted to their quests), and chatting with Support on both Windows and Xbox was a waste of my time.

What am I just not getting here?

    :)

Are you trying to stream a game from Xbox 360 to Windows 10? That's not supported - the media center of old was for streaming videos and songs.

There is a way to stream Xbox 360 games to Windows 10, but it involved using an Xbox One and playing the backwards compatible Xbox 360 on the Xbox 360, then streaming the Xbox One to Windows 10.

  3. Xbox One Browsing and Playing Media from a Win 10 Pro Desktop

I have a Windows 10 Pro desktop that houses all my media(videos, Music, Photos) I want to be able to browse and play all the media from the Xbox itself not cast everything to it from the server. How can I connect the Xbox one to a Windows Share on the
    server?

You may have to install the streaming driver on Win 10 to stream it properly.

    1. On the X1, in settings>Preferences>Game DVR, streaming, make sure all 3 boxes are checked. Hard reset the console.

    2. In Windows, go to Settings>Devices>connected devices, make sure the Xbox shows up in the play devices. If it isn't, you have to load the drivers for it by clicking on Add devices. If by chance it won't, go back to the xbox and under the system and console
part, look to see what name is there. It should be XBOXONE. Next, in Windows media player, go to more streaming options/turn on media streaming, make sure the xbox is listed in the default list and make sure each box is checked.

    3. If that don't work, try resetting the router and internet connection. If that still does not work, you will have to do a factory reset on the xbox because the driver in the xbox boot sector is disabled.

how do i set up windows media center so i can connect my xbox 360 to my windows 10 pc

While you can't use Media Center with Windows 10 (as Windows 10 doesn't have Media Center anymore), you can still stream music, videos and pictures to your Xbox 360 via DLNA.

To set that up, start the Windows Media Player on your Windows 10 PC, and make sure the Media Player has access to your media files. Usually, Media Player looks for that under "Users\[YOUR USERNAME HERE]\[Pictures | Music | Videos]"

If you use different folders or drives for your media library, you need to add those folders and drives to the Media Player's library.

If your media shows up in the Media Player window, you need to turn on Media Sharing on the Windows 10 PC.

Open the start menu, and type "Control" to find the Control Panel.

In the Control Panel, type in the upper right corner "Media"

Under "Network and Sharing Center" should be a link to the "Media Streaming Options".

If necessary, enable Media Streaming and make sure your Xbox 360 is running.

You should then see the Xbox 360 in the list of available devices. Allow the Xbox 360 to access your PC's Media Library.

Now, on your Xbox 360, start the Music Player, Photo Viewer or Video player, and as source choose your PC from the list.

You should then see the media that your PC shares to your local network.

The streaming and cloud features of the Xbox Music app require an Xbox Music Pass. You can stream music from your PC to your Xbox 360 using the System Music Player, and the steps at

xbox one not able to stream video off of my Windows based pc!?

plex is a third party app that charges, you don't need this, windows media player on the pc will share any music, picture or video on the network that the xbox one media player can access, if you have a network drive that has dlna built in the you can stream
from that, it costs nothing, the only thing that costs is xbox music, xbox video, Netflix etc etc.
