    Streaming games from xbox to xbox app on laptop


    I have read an online guide to setting up streaming from Series X to the xbox app, and have gone into the xbox Settings > Devices and Connections > Remote Features > Xbox app preferences, and ticked the relevant boxes, but the box stating "Allow game streaming to other devices" is not listed as an option, only "Allow Play to streaming". Can anyone tell me why I don't have this option?

    Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to answer that.

    Unfortunately you cannot plug in the Xbox One into your laptop and use the laptop as a display. Also there is no app or program that would convert the HDMI port on your laptop to an input source rather than an output source.

    Your only option would be to use the game streaming through the Xbox Console Companion app. I would re over these two support articles on how to improve streaming:

    Hey there! Thanks for reaching out to us.

    I don't think it's possible to display the picture from the Xbox onto your laptop simply by just plugging in the HDMI into the laptop. It should be a compatible TV or computer monitor.

    However, it is possible to stream your games to the laptop through the Xbox App as long as both are connected to the same home network.

    The HDMI connection on a laptop is usually an HDMI out connection, meaning it can connect to another display, but not become another display.

    The only way you could use the laptop as a display for your Xbox, is to stream the game from your Xbox, by using the Xbox Console Companion app on your laptop.
