    Streaming DLNA media through ASUS RTN56U router not working


    I'm wondering if anyone has successfully been able to stream media through the ASUS RTN56U. I have a usb drive plugged into the router and I'm able to stream the files to other computers on the network, but the Xbox One Media Player doesn't see it, even
    though DLNA is enabled. Any suggestions?

    Does xbox one have a system video player like what the 360 had?

    Hey Torchy84,

    The Xbox One does have a system video player app - its Xbox Video. In its current state it can play xbox video marketplace content (tv shows & movies) and it can also accept DLNA play-to content as a DLNA receiver from your PC. It currently does *NOT* browse
    network for playback like the 360 does, i hope we see that functionality soon as the apps get improved.

    Here is a simple walk through guide i found that may better help you figure out remote media playback support.

    How do i add a background

    You can do it through DLNA. I've been able to access images streamed from my computers and use those as backgrounds through the media player app.

    Xbox One will be supporting DLNA on it's media player app with the upcoming October dashboard update, so this should be possible without problems.

    It's already possible to stream media towards the One with the windows media player, but with the next update the One will be able to browse for DLNA servers within the network it's connected to.

    the media player includes dlna, so streaming from a pc, network drive works perfectly for me, you have the option to play files from usb also.

    I wish they'd just include DLNA streaming on Xbox one - then you could stream from iTunes, a NAS media server, or whatever.
