Strangest fault. Ok I seem to have the only Xbox with this fault

right in a nut shell my Xbox will not turn on when it is too cold!?? I know this is a very strange fault but it is true. When my room drops below a certain temperature (roughly below 15 degrees Celsius) firstly my Xbox controller just flashes when trying
to turn on with no response on the Xbox. When I manually press the button it makes the sound when turning on and light turns on, then less than a second later it just dies and turns off. The power box changes colour like it should then instantly turns back
to standby colour. Definitely not the power box as I have tested it with my friends. When this happens the only way I can turn it on is to either place the Xbox in front of a radiator for half an hour or sit with a blow dryer to warm it up!!

Quick back ground. This is my second Xbox! After the first failed was still under warranty and replaced in game store.. This was in summer when it was warm(ish English weather) come winter this fault first appeared, was no longer under warranty from game
store but had a new warranty with Xbox. So I reported the problem and sent it in for repair under warranty in the January. When I get my Xbox back just as Spring is starting and weather is warming up it appears to be working fine, and they said they had repaired
the problem. Come the following winter, I get the same problem again! And of course as the problem didn't arise till winter it was no longer in warranty!

I am very angry and frustrated as I reported this problem within the first year, you said you had repaired it (clearly you didn't) and now I am told I have to pay hundreds for another repair or replacement! I have been a loyal customer to Xbox for the last
15 years and have had every model.. I was going to purchase the Scorpio however now I am not sure.

So basically has ANYONE ever heard of this problem before? Or am I the one unlucky sod the with a dodgy Xbox being refused to help me

Xbox Live Down

I phoned Sky this morning. They said they have had a few calls regarding this problem. They say thery're Broadband is fine and that it must be a fault with the Xbos server. I find it strange, though, that it only seems to be affecting Sky Broadband users.

 

Xbox 360 Freeze when connected to network

Ok, problem seem to be solved. I cannot say other than it is my own fault. It seem like the switch, a TP-LINK TS-SG1008D, caused the problem. When resetting it by unplugging it for a short time it all started to work fine. It becomes clear that I did not
try this, even if I am pretty sure I did...

However, we have had a few power outage this period when the xbox have failed, so it might have something to do with it all.

However, I still cannot get why the xbox need to freeze completely just because of a failed switch! Very strange

That is a little strange. You'd figure that cold temperatures are ideal for electronics that get hot.

Have you first tried a proper power cycle whenever it did that?

If anything, I could only guess that cold temps could be damaging to the Xbox if the room humidity is unusually high (meaning there's a lot of water vapor in the air, 60%+?), which might be a complicating factor for electronics in general. This could be
the case if you can see your breath when it's especially cold in your house.

 

I'll try the power cycle next time it happens, not holding my breath on it working though as the Xbox switches on for literally less than a second. No humidity in the room, it never gets cold enough to see your breath. It doesn't take a large temp drop to
cause the fault, were only talking a few degrees Celsius for it to occur.
