Strange purple lines on disc

One of my Xbox games has these strange purple lines on the disc. The game loads, but when I try to race, it says the game is dirty or damaged. The line are 2 wide at the the to of the disc

Purple Lines.

It sounds like you're experiencing purple lines as a graphical glitch in your games, correct? If this is the case, you'll want to try the Xbox 360 with 1) different cables and 2) a different TV. If the issue is still occurring in both circumstances, then
it sounds like the console will need to be replaced (though be sure to check for dust build-up first--if the vents are blocked, the console could be overheating, which could case the issue). You can check your warranty status
here, and set up a repair.

 

Purple Lines.

Are the purple lines caused by my GC or my Av Adaptor? I can always get the RROD off but, only sometimes can I get the Purple lines off. They'll be off the screen. WHen I get off and then get back on theyre back.

 

Are you able to install the disc to the hard drive?

If you can it may bypass any disc damage.

 

...If the disc is damaged you can't "bypass" it.

The lines are the disc being damaged from high read areas. Because today's games are compressed beyond what they normally were (and really, DVD+R DLs are such an old format), your Xbox is reading from the same area on the disc.

Either way, try installing. If that doesn't work try borrowing someone's disc to install it and just use your disc to boot the game.

 

Currently playing the game "gun", the disc is damaged and will not play.

I installed the disc, and am now playing it without issue.

Installing the game "bypassed" my problem.

 

This is not necessarily true. If there isn't any vital information on the damaged portion of the disc, (such as audio), then the game loads. However if the console detects a problem reading a disc, it halts to prevent damage to the disc or the console, which
is why you get errors telling you that the disc is damaged. Unlike DVDs, which the DVD player retries the read, and why you get corrupted and choppy video--because it's digitally trying to fill what it cannot read. So, _most_ of the time, the error will halt
the reading process. So it's not fixing the error, you're just not using that information.

 

At no point did i say it fixed the error, i said you bypass the problem.

I said "if he can install it", if he can the problem is bypassed as the disc does not need to be fully read ever again.
