Strange noise when trying to play a Blu-Ray

Hi Guys.

Was wondering if you could help me. I bought an Xbox One about two days after the release date last year. I've recently found that my Xbox makes a strange grinding noise when I enter a Blu-Ray disk.

Now I'm aware that several people have had similar issues, and I've seen a lot of issues on YouTube regarding grinding noises, but the noise mine makes doesn't seem to be as violent. It just makes a strange noise when I enter a Blu-Ray, and I actually have
to enter a DVD first, and then take the DVD out and put in a Blu Ray. It seems that when I put a Blu-Ray in, it's not booting up something for some reason, and that I need to put a DVD in first to boot everything up fully, and then enter a Blu Ray. When I
put the DVD in, I get the usually "whirring" noise you get when you put a DVD into a DVD player, but with the Blu Ray disk, it just makes a grinding noise and doesn't make that same "whirring" noise that the DVD does.

Do you think this would be the same issue as the standard Xbox One grinding noise that a large amount of people have had? What would you recommend I do next? Send the console off or take it back to the store I bought it from?

Xbox One split-second, high pitched noise?

Double post: I heard it again and it sounds very similar to the noise the blu-ray drive makes when you first put in a disc or when the disc drive starts up. So, the noise itself is not that strange but I'm wondering why I hear it at all. Does everyone experience
this?

 

Post october update noise

same problem with blu ray noise... started before october update... installing titanfall and the blu ray started make this noise..

 

Hi there! If it is making unusual sounds, you should get a repairing request to MS. My x1 doenst read bluray movies, but there are not weird sounds, it just says "no disc". i have no problems with games and DVDs so i'm guessing i'll need a patch or something.

Thanks Ricardo. I think I'll try taking it back to the store first to see if I can get a replacement first. But if that doesn't work I'll get it sent off to Microsoft.
