    Strange issue with 4K-settings on Xbox One X


    After the system update that was released several weeks ago, I've encountered a strange issue with the 4K settings on Xbox One X. When the system language is set to Norwegian, the 4K settings show that my TV doesn't support 4K at 60 HZ, but when I set the
    language to English it shows that it does support native 4K. This was not a problem before the system update. The TV is a Samsung UE65KS8005.

    I am having the exact same problem with my C61K-700. In the advanced video input settings and "4K Details" my Xbox One X states that my TV supports 4K content (all the parameters pass as indicated with green checks). I bypassed the Xbox One X and connected
    my C61K-700 directly to my 4K TV and it does show up the 4K content. When connected to the XBox One X even though it passes all the checks in identifying my TV as being a compatible 4K TV, when going the the video input and resolutions setting within my C61K-700,
    the 4K option is grayed out and states your TV doesn't support 4K content. When bypassing the XBox One X, the 4K resolution isn't grayed out and I'm able to successfully check the 4K resolution and DirecTV channel 104 does display content in 4K and doesn't
    downgrade my resolution to 1080p as it does when connected to the XBox One X. I have yet to get a solution from XBox Support in resolving this issue.

    Hello there!

    We understand that there is an issue with the console being recognized.

    There has definitely been plenty of troubleshooting attempted.

    Try following our Troubleshooting 4K and HDR on Xbox One X and Xbox One S as this may have to do with the
    4K setting for the console when set up with each 4K supported device.

    Try this out and let us know if this works.

    I can't read Norwegian, but if it shows green checkmarks for everything in either language, it should be all fine and supported. Perhaps a translation error?

    Also, while playing a game, is your screen still running at 60Hz?

    Yes, according to the TV it is displaying 4K at 60Hz, and the picture is definitely not worse than before. I agree that this is likely a translation error.

    Yes, according to the TV it is displaying 4K at 60Hz, and the picture is definitely not worse than before. I agree that this is likely a translation error.

    I'd doubt that Microsoft updated the TV app to support 4K, since they tailored everything more towards games.

    But users with Xbox One X could try the following: Set up your console to 1080p resolution, but in the Advanced settings under video modes "allow 4k".

    That will cause the Xbox One X to switch to 4K if anything specifically requests 4K resolution. If the TV App switches your TV to 4K then, then the X would support 4K set top boxes. But I'd doubt that.
