Strange cricket-like sound from my Console.

You can't remove it. You'd have to download/install games again, all saves are cloud and hdd based.

 

Thanks for all the replies guys, at this point I think I will wait to see if it worsens, it only doe this when playing a disk based game and then goes away. BTW no, that wasnt mine in the video.

If it's under warranty, I would let them do a $400.00 hold on a New replacement console and when you get it, box up your old console and send it back to them.

Just be sure to get your disc out of it before sending back the old X1.

The X1 - According to regular forum goers - Does NOT play the game from the disc but rather merely reads the Codex from the disc while playing the actual game via the HDD - After DL contents of the disc to the HDD. Thus after DL the content - that optical
drive should be whisper quiet.

For games such as The Master Chief Collection, will it read each game separately? When placing my hand on the part of the X1's casing which houses the disc drive, I am sometimes able to feel the optical disc drive functioning. However, at other times I cannot,
which means that the ODD has likely become unrequired (for the most part) at that point in my playtime, I suppose.

 

Today it hasnt made a single noise, so I dont know, like I said I think I will wait to see if it gets worse before making a appeal to get a warranted one. Thnx for the replies guys.gals.

 

So, for the advanced exchange, you just give them your credit card, pay the service fee, and then when you get the replacement Xbox One, you send in your old one? Is the amount of money you place in the advanced exchange necessary for Microsoft to know how
much to charge you if you don't send your old console back?

 

OP..... I'll walk you through the advance exchange process.... I have had 2 consoles replaced under it.

-

1) Contact support and perform the trouble shooting (hard reset... etc)

2) Request an advanced exchange. They will need a CC to put a $400 hold on it.

3) You SHOULD receive a new console within 2 days, send your old console back. Keep track of the tracking # for return. You have 14 days to get the failed console back.

4) You receive an email stating successful return... good.

This program has worked for every time. It is a great option for replacement.

Note: If you had a disc drive failure.... ask about getting a free game. My first console had a DD failure, support emailed me a code to download Forza.... I'm not sure if this is still in effect but give it a try. Also be polite and courteous to the support
member... that always helps.

Just a quick update, so the sound got more intense and louder so I just buckled and took it all back to Gamestop, Here is the crappy thing, the console was one of the white limited editions MMC ones so of course they didnt have anymore when I went to exchange
it. *SIGH* thats not what upsets me, what upsets me is having to go through all the shennanigans of hooking up the system and setting up the internet adapter and BAM BING BAM all my games now need to be re-downloaded and installed. While I am grateful they
let me do a even exchange across the board I still feel like crap because of all the stuff I lost. I wonder if MS would give me some kind of compensation, do you guys know if they do that ? all this trouble, not sure if its worth it.

 

you probably should have just moved the games to an external... so there will be no need to re DL them l;ater on
