strange bug- cant purchase unrated games

Can't purchase gamertag, apparently I need permission. I can however buy Games like GoW3....

For your situation in particular, have you ever been a part of a Family Gold plan on the Xbox 360? I'd like to get this information to the proper people to help them out. That's also why we're in the thread! You can see more information in my signature for

Misses Quinzel thats good to hear. No i have never been part of a family plan on xbox 360. I did have 2 members in a xbox one family... me, another adult and a child. They were removed from my family a while ago as they never used it any longer. Can we also
find out when the digital pre orders may actually be given pegi ratings on the store? or does this not tend to happen until release day? It will be a huge disappointment if i cant pre order Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate and play on the 23rd!!

 

After over an hour (10:05 - 11:24) of discussing this with online support I was told to come here and start all over again with the moderators. At the beginning of the chat i was given case number -
[Mod Removed] if that helps.

We tried about 10 different things (at the suggestion of the support tech) none of which worked.

I am trying to download BF1 Beta and am being told that I need an adults permission, even though my DOB is right and I am an adult in xbox 'family' settings.

Moderator - Please respond so we can sort this out

 

Mr Craigy D - Forza Horizon 3 should be resolved now. We went to attempt a repro on that yesterday, after successfully seeing the error you did on Wednesday, and it's now rated "E for Everyone". Give it a shot again and let me know how it goes.

To be clear - This is the only one we've seen resolved so far. There are several other unrated items that are still running into this issue.

tango fourty4 - Thanks a bunch for your information. The workaround for the Beta, so you can still access that while we are investigating, is to download it either while the child account is signed out of the console, or get it from the Xbox App on your
Windows 10 PC or phone.

For all - We've got this up to the right people now! I appreciate everyone's responses, and will let you know once we have more information on the situation. Your patience is most welcome while we dig into this.

 

Thanks Misses Quinzell.. Purchased it no problems. Now just need to wait for others to be fixed and accounts to be fixed too so it does not happen again. Keep us updated.

 

I'm having this exact same issue. I was in chat for 2 hours to no avail. Then they escalated the case to no avail. Now they've stopped emailing me.

Forza Horizon 3 was the first to do this. Dead Rising 4 is now doing it. My friends do not have this issue, so it must have something to do with individual accounts. All my privacy settings are set-up correctly, I do not have any family/child accounts, and
all my information (birthday, etc.) is correct. This is a store GLITCH!

I'm literally throwing money at the screen and you guys aren't accepting it! Is this how Microsoft does business?

 

Same issue here as well. I am no longer able to purchase age restricted content of any form. On the web, My Xbox one and the windows 10 store I get the same message of

Ask an adult to change your settings

To buy this, an adult needs to change your family settings at account.microsoft.com/family.

We have set up a family but I am the only adult account. I have tried removing all restrictions from the children in the family group but this has changed nothing.

Any suggestions?

I've tried via web, via mobile app and via Windows 10 Xbox app.

Web give me the error in this thread.

Mobile App - No purchase button appears

Win10 App - No purchase button appears

The only route I have not yet attempted is via the console itself as my console is in for repairs.

 

Same problem here, trying to pre-order Infinite Warfare and getting a message on the XB1 saying: "You'll still need your parents permission" and on the web store: "Ask an adult to change your settings". I had no problems pre-ordering Black Ops 3 last year
and have bought loads of games from the stores in the past. I am definitely not underage and have no other accounts etc.

 

This is weird, after reading through the posts above I thought I would try some different devices. It failed on the XB1, my Windows 10 laptop and my iPhone but it worked on my Android phone! No idea what is going on, clearly it's a store issue though. Come
on MS, sort it out!

 

I managed to pre order battlefield on the iphone smartglass app. Still gives the error on xbox.com and on the console. You can bypass it on the console by agreeing to the "parents permission" and still purchasing the game.. not sure if this may cause issues
trying to run the game though?

 

@Harmonious_Bard - Thank you! I tried on several devices to no avail also, but it finally worked with the Xbox app on Android for me, too. I really appreciate your suggested workaround.

 

I managed to buy the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass directly on the console, however, it did warn me that even though I'm being allowed to buy it I would still need a Parent's permission to be able to play it.

So, yeah.... Take the money first, ask questions later.....

I really hope that this doesn't impact me when I want to play BF1. I'll be seriously unhappy!
