    Storage Transfer Tool shutting down Xbox


    I have my Xbox One X [beta] and my Day One Xbox [normal] and when I try to use the Storage Transfer Tool on external drives [8TB 500 games and an old not used 4TB ~100 games] both systems turn off with either drive.

    XBOX One X wakes up external harddrive all the time

    Either an external HDD always disconnects when you shut down Xbox. A, or in the power mode setting, shut down the storage.

    You can use it on the USB as another storage device.

    It is fine, but the cable it really only ment to be used as a transfer tool not as a normal storage medium.

    The USB drive is a Centon DataStick Sport 8Gb. This drive has served me well for a year or so now, pushing videos back and forth to my PS3 and such. It was not flashing when I removed it from the XBox. I powered down the console, let it completely wind down,
    and ALL lights were off. All I did was went in to Storage, and did the Data Transfer utility (from what I gather, the same utility used when transferring via the HDD transfer cable), which I now know will delete data from the HDD once it successfully places
    it to your selected target storage. When I finished, i exited out of the menus back to the dashboard, and shut down the console.

    Is your Cloud Storage enabled? I know if your Cloud Storage is enabled your Xbox wont shut down right away.

    Xbox One USB Power Questions

    Go to Settings>Power & Startup and check Turn off storage when Xbox is off. That will turn off your external drive when the console is shut down. As for in Instant On mode I don't see my storage device on when the console is shut down.
