Discus and support Storage space Xbox 360 in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; i am trying to create an Xbox live account for my son and it says i need to do a system update of Xbox live but when i go to do it it says there is not...     i am trying to create an Xbox live account for my son and it says i need to do a system update of Xbox live but when i go to do it it says there is not enough storage space. it says i need to connect an Xbox 360 storage device with at least 190 MB free space.

    he currently has a 1 TB Toshiba hard drive connected that is empty.

    it shows up in his system settings as being connected as the storage device.

    please help as my son is keen to be able to access the internet and Xbox Live.

    Is your 360 storage full?!? Xbox One has limited 360 space...

    If it's specifically asking for a 360 storage device, then it's looking for an actual MS brand Xbox 360 storage device (hard drive), not another external device.

    How big is your internal storage device and how much space is left? Maybe try moving some games from there to your external Toshiba drive to free up some space on the internal drive.

    Hi,

    If you configure a USB Storage device for Xbox 360 storage, and subsequently insert this drive into a PC, it will show the drive as full. This because the Xbox 360 reserves the drive space for Xbox 360 storage. It will only appear full on a PC, while a
    360 will show the actual free space.

    If you want to use a USB flash drive with your PC as well as the 360, you'll need to format it again, choosing the 'customise' option instead.
