Storage Space (oddity)

Just a quick query,if your using an external hard drive for extra storage which one are you using and does it work well.

Just thought I would ask as my internal is nearly full.

Storage Space

If you have one you could also use an old HDD, I upgraded from an elite to a slim console, I kept the elites HDD and using the data transfer cable I'm able to swap saves around as and when required, it's been really handy for keeping my old saves and DLC
that I don't use very often.

 

I've not got one but I will need to purchase one shortly and I've been looking at the Seagate hard drive

 

I've got a 2Tb Western Digital external (Desktop) drive and it works perfectly. Cost me about £50 from Amazon about 6 months ago.

Pretty much any drive should do the trick. You can even use a regular 2.5" or a 3.5" drive in an enclosure.

I could suggest checking out the WD My Passport or WD Elements Portable drives. They should work pretty good and serve you well. Here's a link:

I would take a look particularly at WD My Passport X which is designed specifically for Xbox users. Here's more info if you decide to check it out:

I'd say you have a pretty good variety of options from internal and external (portable and desktop) drives.

Ive got a seagate 5TB external HDD

Got it from amazon for £130

Best thing ive brought this year gone are the days of removing old games before installing new ones.

Easy to format all you do is plug it in and your xbox dose the rest for you.

Ive got my xbox on instant on mode and the external HDD turns on and off when i turn the xbox on or off.

Great bit of kit

 

I got the sea gate 2tb and love it on cost about 50-60 quid, like the above comment I have it on instant on mode and updates my games fine

 

Like many others, i've got a Seagate 2tb. runs like a dream.

Check the transfer rate of any HDD you buy. If its slow, it may impact on loading times, installation etc.

 

Seagate 4TB, same one Major Nelson has and works great.

However a buddy in IT swears that Western Digital are a better make so I'd go with that if I were you buddy.

Remember the drives can spin at different speeds. I believe 7200rpm is the fastest.

Also an external Power Supply means that it's not sucking juice and resources from your ONE.

I had heard this also which is why I went for the WD drive.
