Stop updating without us having a choice!!

I hope someone from xbox actually reads and takes note of this because i know this *** a lot of people off! I was in the middle of a really hard grind that had taken me nearly an hour of dying and repeatedly trying to complete, i was just about to complete
it then boom, xbox needs an update. This has happened several times now in the middle of a game, and it gets interrupted. I don't have a problem with downloading an update, but can we please have some notice so we can at least save our progress.

I tried it with batteries in the controller and it would stop the update process and say something similar to "Please remove the batteries before updating"

Is it possible to stop having beast blood without loading a previous save? And if so how?

 

I presume that your on the "preview programme" in which case that's what you should expect, Microsoft can issue console updates weekly easily.

If your not happy with that then I recommend you opt out of the preview programme, in which case you'll only get system updates once in a while.

You have no choice everyone is required to have the same version of xbox live. You agreed to that in the microsoft services agreement. You have a choice not to update but you will not be able to connect to xbox live until you do

Yet again, more great constructive help. Has anybody actually got anything helpful to say? Maybe you just like the sound of your own unwanted opinions, and yes, Microsoft Xbox employees do read this forum.

Put your console in "instant on" mode & updates will download when your console is off.

If you want someone from Microsoft to see your idea about update notifications then you need to post it on the feedback site

That's the only place anyone from Microsoft will see it & take notice if it gets enough votes.

 

Finally a sensible answer, thank you! I realize that leaving it on standby maybe my only real option, but i'm reluctant to do so, as i feel this will detract from the life of my Xbox, as it is always on in the background. But thankyou for your link, much

Instant on mode is fine.Had my launch day console in instant on since day one & it works perfectly ok.

At the moment that is really your only option i'm afraid.

 

Ok, good to hear you've not had any problems leaving your Xbox in stand by mode. I might just join you on that one, but i will NEVER join the dark side

 

Microsoft need to do a better job of warning people of the update. Getting a 'skip and stay offline' annoying.

the hardware should work for the few hours while you are still using the device. At the very least you should be able to defer or organise the update for the following 24 hours.

There is a post on this in the Xbox feedback site (link below). I suggest you up vote it, Microsoft have had a good record of implementing suggestions from here -it is the reason for many of the updates
