Is there a way to find the serial number online?

My Xbox 360 got stolen and the police told me they need the serial number to track it. Is there a way to find out the serial number based on past transactions? Or is there a different way? Any help would be appreciated..

if you registered it on xbox.com then you can goto microsoft.com and sign in and check your device manager

It would be listed there

If not you will have goto your store and get the serial number

Once you have that you contact the police and the police contact xbox

You can also try calling but if it's not listed on the device manager Xbox won't know

The serial number can be tracked, especially if they try to sell or pawn the Xbox. All legitimate shops check databases of stolen item descriptions and serial numbers. Make sure you have it handy.

So there is no 12 digit serial number like on the Xbox One and Kinect? Maybe you're right though as it doesn't say how to find the number for a controller at the following link, so maybe it's not able to be registered:
