Still on the Fence need a few things answered.

The xbox one is very larch and it's not pretty to look at. However, the console runs cool and almost completely silent.

 

There is about a 2" difference in width between the X1 and the PS4. The PS4 is about 1" longer then the X1. The PS4 is a little thinner but still takes up the same shelf space. This doesn't seem like a huge difference to me, were the OP gets twice the size
is beyond me!

 

The X1 is big it's taller and wider and the only reason the PS4 is a bit longer is because the way it has a slants to the front and back this page has some photos to show the size difference,

And then you figure in the power brick and the fact you are going to have external hdd hanging off it and it's a beast.

I personally much prefer having a "bigger" console and the power brick on the outside. As mentioned, the XB1 runs nearly silent and I've had mine on sometimes all day and it is barely warm.

Especially good with the summer getting closer.

I love the design of the One. I am glad the power supply is separate from the console so it can be serviced independently. Of course, I would love for everything I want to be cheaper. Other than that, I hope MS never addresses your concerns.

 

For me, the size isn't an issue. Once sitting next to my cable box and receiver, it doesn't stick out at all. It blends in nicely with everything else.

I like the fact the power brick is external. Generates less heat inside the console and therefore, the fans don't have to constantly be running at high speed to decrease the heat.

And with price, yes, it's $100 more, but the fact you get Titanfall free as well as reports coming out that a $50 price cut is coming makes it more than reasonable. This coming from a Day One purchaser getting no games at all for free. So with Titanfall
bundled($60 value) and the potential price cut of $50, it's like getting it for $390.

 

I have both consoles and being taller doesn't mean crap. The PS4 still takes up the same shelf space as the X1. The power supply can go behind or on the floor, and not everyone will need a external hdd. If a person needs a external hdd, it can sit on top
of the console. They make very small external hdd, Product Dimensions: 4.7 x 3.1 x 0.7 inches ; 6.4 ounces 1TB.

 

OP Try to ignore certain people in this forum. Not to name names (BSTN) but there are certain people in here that will bash every little thing about xbox one. If the size and cost of the console really bothers you that much then maybe it's not for you. In
actual fact the x1 isn't that much bigger than the 360 elite. I have them both sitting side by side in my entertainment unit and the size difference is negligible. As far as price goes, with the price reduction and free game (Titanfall is worth every cent)
if you still feel it's too expensive then maybe wait another year and hope it comes down further. Problem is, you'll be missing out on some great gaming in the mean time.

 

I can understand why some don't care about the power brick on the outside but to consider it a good thing to me is strange. Just about ever other device you own or will own has internal power supplys and they make everything nice and neat. Why can't Xbox
have it?

They had reliablity issues last gen and it seems this gen too so it's not helping anything just a extra wire and brick.

@bstn617, lets see, my HP printer has a external power supply, computer monitor, cordless telephone, Samsung blu-ray player, internet modem, wireless router, all have external power supplies. You want more? Nice thing about that it if the power supply
goes bad, I just get a new one. A product that has a internal power supply, you usually just throw the whole dam thing away.

 

i personally like it the way it is, it's almost like my entertainment center that i bought 7 years ago was built with the X1 in mind, the X1 is sitting in a opening and has a even 3 inches on each side of the X1 and about 2 inch clearing on the top, and
has like 8 inches of open area in the back, perfect for the power brick.

i like having an external power brick, while this hasn't happened to me yet, i've had a few friends that their 360 power supply died and it was easier and cheaper to buy a new one instead of replacing the whole console or sending it somewhere for repair.

some people like big(i'm still hoping they re-release The Duke), some like it small.

My monitor also does not.

My cordless phone does not.

My BluRay player does not.

My modem/router had a small box on the plug but nothing like the brick on the X1

So ya I want more the only thing I have that is comprarable to X1 is my laptop power supply and that is about 1/3 the size of the brick.
