Still no voice commands with Netflix!

I have posted this before. I have been without voice commands for Netflix for several months. To some its no big deal. HOWEVER! I'm a Quadriplegic which means I have zero hand control. So I HAVE to access my xbox one with my voice. Nobody has seemed to take
this seriously. What should I do??

How on earth do you get to "Queue" in hulu with voice commands?

Between this and Netflix, the voice command experience has been absolutely destroyed.

there is more features on netflix xbox then any other device

kinect netflix voice and gesture commands

netflix parties

(would only function with gold anyways)

netflix search using voice (coming this fall)

 

Yeah, I know. I bought the Kinect with my Xbox primarily for the voice commands. It worked very well when I first got it. Not only Netflix but the most recent Amazon Prime Video app is broken as well. Amazon voice commands worked beautifully before the
last update, no virtually none of them work.

What is really aggravating is the lack of communication. If Microsoft doesn't want to support voice commands for these apps then just say so. Then at least we know what to expect. If you do want them, then make it a requirement for them to work before they
are released.

 

Yeah, having the same problem. Followed this issue in a number of threads, and there doesn't seem to be a solution. Microsoft hasn't made this issue a priority. Voice commands were the main reason I purchased an xbox. People with disabilities who depend
on this functionality have contacted Microsoft to resolve this issue and have gotten nothing more than "we're working on it!" replies for over a year. This is shameful.

With the Xbox Update in August, we brought more of Windows to Xbox. This has the long term benefit of having apps work on all of your devices, but it did make some changes to how speech works on the Xbox console by moving away from Kinect based voice commands
(which requires purchasing additional hardware) and building speech commands with Cortana.

For our first release using Cortana, we focused on getting some basics working beautifully on Xbox and we will build on that foundation for future releases. This means that while gamers will be able to use Cortana to navigate their Xbox One dashboard like
Home, Achievements and the Game Collection, they won’t be able to use Cortana to navigate within (some) apps. They’ll be able use Cortana to launch the app, and (if the app supports it) use Cortana to play or pause video playback or search for content within
the app, but they won’t be able to issue voice commands specific to that app (for example “Move Next” or “Select Three”).

We are working hard to make this functionality available to our app partners in a future update, so stay tuned for future announcements on our speech journey.

Well its about time somebody took responsibility for this! This is the very first time anyone has tried to explain this! So should those of us needing or wanting to use voice commands switch over to Cortana for good? This will take some getting used to for
those that have used the Kinect voice commands for years. I'm certainly willing to try to retrain myself to use Cortana if need be. And finally thank you for finally giving an understandable explanation for this problem. Saying that I fully expect Xbox to
get back to being able to use voice commands in all areas sooon.

 

Any news here?

 

I'm a quad as well and enjoyed the accessibility that Xbox One provided. I'm sad they're dropping Kinect Support which really helped navigate through everything. This Cortana stuff ruined so much but I hope they fix voice controls soon.
