    Still no fix: We were unable to turn on your console...


    The xbox app on Windows 10 give the following error when trying to power on the console remotely:

    "We were unable to turn on your console. Please make sure blah blah blah"

    I've tried all the suggestions in the many other threads about this topic:

    • Xbox and PC are both on Ethernet
    • Console is set to "instant on" (even tried setting it to "eco" and then back; no effect)
    • Everything is updated to the latest version
    • Game streaming works fine once the xbox is powered on
    • The Xbox has a reserved IP address from the router
    • I've tried resetting, powering off for 10 minutes, and every other thing that has been suggested elsewhere
    Any help would be much appreciated, but at this point I think I've tried everything I can and it's up to MS to fix the app.

    Still having the same issues even when using latest beta app 15.15.3016.00000

    Connected via Ethernet / Gigabit switch

    Clicking Turn On appears to wake the console temporarily as it starts to respond to PING via cmd prompt, but am always presented with "We were unable to turn on your console. Make sure this device is on the same network as your console and your console is
    set to instant-on.

    Xbox itself seems to take longer to wake up in instant on mode - has something changed on the Xbox itself?

    Me and my friend are unable to turn on party chat with one another. I can turn on mine but he will be unable to turn on his and vice versa. We are unable to communicate with each other and it is ruining our fun.

    I tried to enter the error but it came up empty.

    Any fixes would be appreciated, we have both restarted routers, set network settings to automatic and made sure no other device in our houses are using internet, and there is still no luck.

    HI Elsteve, Sorry to hear your experiencing this issue. I notice you did not mention the Xbox App (Beta). Have you tried using the beta version to see if you can reproduce this issue? You can DL the app located here:

    I have recently had this problem as well, and I can't work-out what has happened. I was able to turn-on my Xbox One from my PC for a couple of weeks. Suddenly, about a week ago, I was not able to do the turn-on from the PC, and had to run downstairs to
    turn it on manually.

    Following the advice from Bestlano, I've installed the Beta app and, for the moment, I have now been able to turn on the xbox one from the PC. It was necessary for me to first turn-on the console manually, to enable the Beta app to re-detect the console,
    and then subsequently I turned it off from the PC and then back on again from the PC. As a further test, I got someone to turn off the console manually for me, whilst I was in front of the PC. I then did a fresh start of the app, and was able to turn on
    the console from the app. I will report back to this thread if I encounter the issue again.

    Update; problem has resurfaced today. Overnight, PC was shut down, but the Xbox One, as always, remained plugged-in, and in Instant On state. This morning, from the PC, I tried to "Turn-On" the console, but received the "We were unable to turn on your
    console" message. I am very keen to help troubleshoot this issue, so if anyone wants to ask me to try things, please reply.

    It definitely seems to be related to how long the xbox one is in its "off" mode; last night, I was able to turn it on and off from PC several times, but this was in the space of 10 minutes or so. Leaving it overnight, the problem has returned.

    Well, I don't know what happened, but this suddenly started working for me. Nothing changed on my network. Just last week I tried a "chat" with xbox support and they gave me a strange answer, that turning on the xbox from the windows 10 app was not working
    yet, but would be in a future update. I found this to be a strange answer because I couldn't use the ipad smartglass app to turn on the xbox either. Either way, it seems to be working now. I don't know of a xbox update in the last few days.

    However, the first time I tried to use it, it gave me a message that I needed to be signed on with my account on the xbox. Makes sense to me, however, I live in a house with other people, and I don't want the xbox to automatically sign on as me.

    Is it working for anyone else? I've tried it with xbox app version 11.13.6008.00000 and the beta app version 14.14.12005.00000
