Still having problems with Xbox One S Blu Ray app not playing 4K Blu Rays

Hi everyone, been a hectic week. My Xbox one S isn't playing some 4K titles the only two I own are Snow White & the Huntsman and Huntsman Winters War. I replaced my 4K tv twice, spent 120 mins driving. Replaced my Xbox One S and exchanged the movies 3 times
after I had purchased them from different stores. I was told it was faulty hardware (tv/Xbox one S) and faulty discs. Seeing as the issue is still not fixed after over 16 hours on the phone with technical support and driving to and from Best Buy. And the other
thread is marked as being answered, when in fact it provides no solution to the problem is crazy. All I want is for the system to work properly as it's advertised. I have tried all troubleshooting steps possible to try and figure out why this issue is occuring.
Also have been waiting on my email/phone call for over a week now. I just waby my system to work as intended. And have been experiencing nothing but agony since I made the decision to purchase and upgrade from my previous Xbox one. Also been experiencing problems
with Madden NFL 17 where I boot up the game and it crashes to powered off or crashes to reboot. Tried the steps support suggested as well and it worked for a bit then stopped working. Thanks please fix/update cause this system is a disaster.

4k problems on xbox one s

Are specifically having this issue with the 4K Blue-Ray version of Oblivion as well? I saw that you mentioned 4K Blu-Rays worked before the update, did you set up your Xbox One S and try a 4K Blu-ray before updating?

Thanks for posting this up, are there any other Universal Studios 4K Blu-Ray movies that you can try out as well? In the meantime, please try uninstalling the Blu-Ray app, power cycle your Xbox One S console by holding the power button, and then reinstall
the Blu-Ray app.

Snoopy, look around on just this page alone. The XBOX One S is having a lot of problems playing Blu Ray (especially 4k titles). The Blu Ray app appears to be pretty much garbage (rated 2/5 stars).

I really appreciate your post on this issue. The 4k issues I am experiencing could possibly be tested with a 4k UHD Blu-Ray. Huntsman: Winter's War is one of the few UHD Blu-Ray's available I haven't seen and had been considering picking up that movie
to try and kick my console into finally displaying something in 4k. Hopefully this issue is fixed soon!

 

Hey everyone! I have some new information that should help get you on the right track.

We are aware that a limited number of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray movie discs manufactured earlier in 2016 may not play on the Xbox One S.

This issue has since been corrected, but if you are experiencing a problem playing a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray movie disc, you can contact the customer service department of the title’s studio for support. Please note, your console does not need repair or further
updates to resolve this particular disc issue.

 

Two months to come up with this explanation, seriously? The issue has been since corrected to what, to the manufacturing process or the Xbox? Huntsman Winter's War was published August 23. That's a few weeks after the Xbox One S was published. So what does
"discs manufactured earlier in 2016". Earlier when?

Also, this still doesn't override the fact that the same discs work on other Ultra HD Blu-Ray players.

 

To suggest we contact the customer service department of the title's studio is unacceptable. Exactly how how has this issue "been corrected" ?

 

This issue HAS NOT been corrected. The XB1 S STILl cannot play the Lucy 4k UHD disc

I can confirm that both Lucy and The Hunstman: Winter's War are titles that are affected. As I mentioned, you'll need to reach out to the title's studio in regards to your disc. They should be able to best help you out.

Contact the studios when its the Xbox S itself thats the problem ? The Discs workes on all other players than the console ?

Sorry to say, but this issue is not resolved yet. Can you confirm if the UltraHD movie "The Revenant" is also affected?

This is the Spanish release sold in Spain and as you can see in other posts lots of people is also affected.

With the response to this issue being to call the titles studio, which is a very poor solution as other UHD players play the titles just fine, it would probably be best to go ahead and list all the titles that are affected. Yes, it will be embarrassing for
Microsoft to have the info in public, but it would reduce the stress of the consumers that were duped into buying this new system to play 4K discs, of having to call in to see if the title they are trying to play is on the list of 4K movies that the Xbox One
S is incapable of playing. It would also save others money by not purchasing certain movies or to purchase a different player that is more capable of playing ALL 4K titles. Also, why not give an explanation as to why the S is incapable of playing ALL 4K titles.

Well Universal is sending me out a replacement Lucy disc. If this does not fix the issue then I want a full refund for the Xbox one S so I can purchase a real UHD player.

HotshotKingLou, I'm afraid I don't have a list to provide you with. As I mentioned in my post above, your console does not need repair or further updates to resolve this particular disc issue. The studio's support may have additional information as to why
you are experiencing trouble with your movie and provide you with a solution.
