Stick Drift (possibly software/firmware related)

So around August last year, I bought a custom xbox one controller, I had no issues when I was using it for the xbox one. Then at Christmas I got a Series X had no issues until around March then the right stick started drifting up periodically I did some testing and found 90% of the time it is caused by moving the left stick and when I am trying to look down (to cancel out stick drift) it looks down like it's on ice compared to the normal stopping when it stops moving. I have thoroughly cleaned the controller with rubbing alcohol, q-tips, etc... making me believe it's software related. Any help is appreciated.

That's called stick drift and has nothing to do with this firmware issue. Your controller is broken, you can have Microsoft fix it for a fee or replace it. But no software update will fix stick drift.

Delete the hardware? Do you mean software? Stick drift is a hardware malfunction and can’t be corrected with software upgrades.

Did you follow this steps?

On your Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system > Xbox Support > Get help > Help topics > Hardware & networking > Controllers > My Xbox controller has connection issues after the last update. Select Check your controller’s firmware to open the controller firmware reversion screen in the Xbox Accessories app, and then follow the instructions in the app.
