Stick drift on Xbox series s

the series 1 had any stick drift ?or just had the series 2...

if you want to be certain it's the controller, then you will have to see what happens when you connect the controller to a different device and see if the same problem happens. Or you can try and see what happens when using a different controller on your console, if that different controller doesn't show those symptoms or the same thing happens when you use your controller on a different device then it's safe to say that the controller is the cause and needs replacing.

It's due to this controller firmware update (5.17.3202.0). I decided to update mine as well on the PC and as soon as I press any input button then the joystick has a drift to the side. You might notice that the triggers don't work either after the firmware update. I have tested this on many devices (Windows 10, 11, Xbox and Mac) and it's the same. My girlfriend has the exact same controller and we did not update hers and we will not because there is a lot of posts about this online and it's 100% guaranteed to be the latest firmware update. Microsoft does not care however and only gives you the basic troubleshooting steps that won't do anything because it's a firmware issue. There use to be a way to revert the firmware on the Xbox accessories app however that feature has been removed. There was a workaround by pressing windows key + r and then paste xboxaccessories:\\firmwareupdate?legacyDowngrade=true however that feature has been stripped from it as well.

My controller was recently bought brand new. The only way for this to be fixed it seems is if and when they push out another firmware update that addresses these issues that so many people are currently experiencing.

I have a tiny bit of stick drift on my Series 2, but it isn't bad.

Did you try setting the sticks to the highest tension? That might help.
