  1. Stereo Headset not working on the controller.

I bought a Lunar White Xbox One controller at Gamestop today, when I plugged my Xbox One Stereo Headset into the 3.5mm jack and the audio works fine but my microphone doesn't seem to be working. I plugged it into my PC and it seems to work just fine. What
    am I doing wrong?

Stereo Headset Adapter issues and questions

If you have a question or problem using the Stereo Headset Adapter, see the following topics.

    Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t working

If your Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t functioning well, check the following:

Have you updated your controller’s software to support the Stereo Headset Adapter?

Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions like audio and rumble get turned off to conserve the remaining power.

Make sure your headset adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your stereo headset’s 3.5-mm cable is securely plugged into the headset adapter. You will know it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.
If the mute light comes on and you have updated your controller but your headset isn’t working, consult the manual or manufacturer.

Try your Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller if you can. If the adapter works on the second controller, try updating the first controller again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the Xbox Online
    Service Center.

Stereo Headset not working on the controller.

Bunch of us with the same problem and no solutions.

Xbox stereo headset plugged into Xbox stereo headset adapter plugged into Xbox wireless controller. Was working as of 10/18/2015 2:35 am (CST) / Logged in again 10/18/2015 10:15 pm (CST) and had issues. Could hear through headset both game audio and chat
but no one could hear me in either game or party chat. I had not downloaded any new updates for either system or games nor made any changes to anything since my prior gaming session.

The following is what I have attempted to do to resolve the issue...

-Hard reset Xbox console. (Powered off and left unplugged for over an hour)

-Tried both using microphone through stereo adapter and through 3.5 jack directly on controller.

    -Using a different controller

    -Using a different headset

    -Buying a new stereo adapter

-Doing firmware updates on both controllers (no updates available)

-Checking my NAT (OPEN behind a cone NAT)

-Making sure I wasn't muted in both system privacy settings and party chat settings

-Plugging my headset into my Iphone and testing it (Works perfectly both earphones and microphone)

Please do not close this forum by slapping your "Download new controller firmware" copy and paste, that is not the problem here. There are tons of people with this issue and it needs to be resolved.

    Hey everyone!

To help narrow this down, let's try opening up the Skype app and calling the Skype Test Call contact. It will run you through an echo test. If you're able to hear yourself within Skype it may be linked to a Network issue. If your NAT isn't showing as open
run through all the steps on
    this page
, if you do have an open NAT type, be sure the people you are chatting with have an open NAT type. Anyone in the party with a NAT type other than open can cause issues for the rest of the party.

If you're not able to hear yourself in Skype it sounds like a hardware issue. If you recently purchased the controller from GameStop I would try exchanging it there and testing your headset with that new controller. Keep us in the loop with how it goes Stereo Headset not working on the controller. :)

  6. My headset was working fine last night. Now I cannot hear anyone in a party, nor does my mic light and others cant hear me up when I speak. However, if I make the party and none else is in it, the icon lights up just like normal. Very frustrating.

A lot of people have been having this issue. Here is the mega thread on it:
    forums.xbox.com/.../1955043.aspx

I wonder if the Lunar White controller is the death knell. Lunar white worked for about a day, then hasn't since then. Exchanged the controller 3 times and even went with a normal one, nothing has worked.

    Headset not working

If your Xbox One stereo Headset is not working properly, check the following.

Make sure the Controller software has been upgraded to support the stereo Headset adapter
Make sure that new batteries are inserted into the controller. When the batteries have a low charge level, some features of the controller such as audio and rumble are deactivated to optimize the remaining charge.
Make sure that the headset adapter is securely connected to the controller and that the 3.5 mm cable from the stereo headset is securely connected to the headset adapter. You can perform this verification by pressing the voice mute button and checking
    that the LED lights up.
To see if your Xbox One stereo Headset is working, try it with another device, such as a portable computer. If it doesn't work, you need to replace it. To order a replacement headset, visit the Xbox online Help Center.
If possible, try using the stereo headset and the stereo headset adapter with a different controller. If the headset is working with this second controller, try updating the first controller again. If the problem is still not resolved, you must replace
the controller. To order a replacement headset, visit the Xbox online Help Center.
