  1. Stereo Headset Microphone Issue

I have had the same controller/stereo adapter/headset for the past 2 years, and suddenly the mic starts making bad static for about a day, then quits working all together. Audio still works perfectly fine, and the mic/audio work fine on my computer. I tried
using my other controller, same problem. I don't want to just throw $25 out the window on a new adapter and possibly have the same problem. Any solutions?

    :)

I have this same microphone input issue with my Master Chief controller and Stereo Headset Adapter. Both the Master Chief and Elite controllers are listed as compatible with the Stereo Headset Adapter.

Here's a Reddit thread of people having the same microphone issue:

    Hey there SpeedChaser46,

Newer controllers now have the 3.5mm adapter built in, do you have the ability to test the headset using that? Is this an official Xbox One stereo headset as well?

    Hey there Speedchaser,

Sorry to hear about the headset issue. Do you happen to have an Xbox One controller with the 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom? If you do, please go ahead and give that a shot to ensure that the Xbox One headset adapter is the culprit.

    Keep us posted!

  6. Update: A new headset I had ordered last week arrived, same issue, though it has separate mic/audio cables I have yet to get an adapter for, Audio cable worked, mic cable just made static while being plugged in/unplugged/twisted. Works flawlessly on my computer,
audio works on xbox, but mic won't work. I do not have access to a newer controller, and neither of my headsets are official Xbox One stereo headsets.

  7. Thanks for the details,

It sounds like either the adapter or the controller is causing the issue. We'd suggest trying a new controller or adapter to see if it fixes the problem.

  9. Bummer, since they're not official Xbox One headsets, we'd suggest reaching out to the manufacturer to get their take on it.

  10. Sound works on both of them, and voice was working on my old one for years. Not a headset issue. It's xbox.
