Stereo Headset and Adapter Issues

Updated my controller on March 6. Picked up a stereo headset on March 7 and updated again with the adapter and headset attached.

Issue 1: While scrolling through the dashboard menu's I can hear slight crackling

Issue 2: Playing forza the constant engine noise will cut out and sputter

Issue 3: After a hour of playing the controller froze up and loud feedback started playing through the headset. Had to remove the battery to shut the controller off, and things were back to normal after that. Battery power was 3/4 full on rechargeables.

Anyone else experience anything similar?

We have two of the
Xbox Stereo Headset with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.

Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t working

If your Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t functioning well, check the following:

Have you updated your controller’s software to support the Stereo Headset Adapter?

Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions like audio and rumble get turned off to conserve the remaining power.

Make sure your headset adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your stereo headset’s 3.5-mm cable is securely plugged into the headset adapter. You will know it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.
If the mute light comes on and you have updated your controller but your headset isn’t working, consult the manual or manufacturer.

Try your Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller if you can. If the adapter works on the second controller, try updating the first controller again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the Xbox Online
Service Center.

Same exact issue. I picked up a pair of XO Four and Forza was constantly cutting out, there was popping and crackling while scrolling through menus as well. I actually returned them, not because of those issues but because the damn things were so uncomfortable.
I think I may get the Microsoft headset and let them sort out the issues. At least those may be more comfortable.

 

Exact same problems for me as well with the adapter (using my own headphones). I get staticky audio and my controller has locked up/disconnected a couple times.

 

I bought the XO Sevens and had two issues. 1 was audio drops all the time from the game sound, and 2 was the entire controller froze, but the game kept going. I had ti manually turn off the Xbox One. I returned the headphones because of these issues. The
audio was terrible and very buggy.

 

I got the Microsoft Stereo Headset (comes with the adapter), and I haven't had a problem with the controller locking up but the chat seems to only work like 10% of the time, the game audio sounds pretty good most of the time, it hasn't dropped out on me.
I do get a weird bug where if I try to use it in Skype it will drastically reduce the overall volume of the headset for a time. The headset doesn't work at all in Skype, and if I try to use Skype, then the chat portion of the headset will not work at all until
I hard reset the system. This is annoying, I am not sure if my headset is hardware defective or not, I'm guessing that it is software related. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. I needs my headset for some Titanfall! To those wondering, the XBOX Stereo Headset
is really comfy!

 

So I just spent the last 3 hours troubleshooting the headset/adapter and we pretty much found out that if you try to use the headset with Skype, bad things happen.

 

judging by this thread it seems like the common denominator is the chat adapter. Maybe they just rushed the firmware to be released before titanfall and they can get these bugs fixed in the future. None the less, it's disappointing that such a critical part
of the gaming experience seems like it was an afterthought to the microsoft developers. How about taking a page from Sony and scrap the chat adapter and integrate bluetooth (less moving parts).

 

Same problem...controller has locked up multiple times. I have to take the batteries out to fix the problem. I have the XO Sevens.

 

Same thing is happening to me and my Razer Chimera 5.1

had it happen about 5 times now, and i actually managed to catch it on live stream today for video proof

 

Same exact thing for me. Seems to happen more frequently when I am in party chat. I have XO7s by the way. I'm pretty sure its not their fault.

 

Oh yea, I forgot to mention...I bought the XO7s the day they came out (3/7) and my controller has frozen up (and kicked me out of my party chat) around 15 times. Which is crazy considering the fact that I don't even use my new $160 headset that much because
of the poor stability.

I've tried everything I can think of and I'm pretty good at troubleshooting. Question is, who do I bother about a new adapter? Or is this even fixable?

 

exactly what happened to me. with an xo4 and and xo7. Kinda wish I hadn't brought the xo7 back it was more comfortable . this has to be software, and microsoft needs to issue a statement. this is complete garbage.

Thinking of taking the whole thing back and getting a PS4. i love my xbox, but how many times can you get kicked in the teeth.

 

I'm unsure at this time if i have a defective headset or not. I'm returning it tomorrow for another identical headset. At least then i should be able to nail down whether the issue is hardware or software related. I have the xb1 stereo headset.
