    Stereo headset adapter ISSUES


    I'm checking to see if ANYONE else is experiencing issues with the Xbox One controller after purchasing and installing the software update to use the chat adapter for 3rd party heasets. Prior to having the chat adapter, I never once had an issue with any
    of my controllers. But since getting the chat adapter, I'm on my 3rd controller due to the fact that after doing the software update, the controller constantly disconnects from the console in the middle of gaming.

    I've got to find out if anyone else is having this particular issue with the controller disconnecting during gameplay after doing this update. If so, please let me know. And also, please contact Microsoft and report it. I keep going through controllers
    and Microsoft keeps telling me there ain't a problem because I'm the only one reporting the issue. I've had friends trek me they've had the same issue, but they haven't reported it either. Apparently, until enough people report the issue Microsoft is
    not going to admit something is wrong with the software update. I'm tired of reporting it because I keep having to send my controller in for replacement.

    I just received another replacement, did the update, and within 2 hours of gameplay my controller was disconnecting from the console again. But according to Microsoft support, there's not a problem. So please, anybody experiencing the issues give me
    some feedback. Maybe the update just hate TurtleBeaches. Or maybe Microsoft is trying to force me to buy brand new headsets, even though my Turtlebeach PX5 set is only a couple years old and works perfectly fine.

    We have two of the
    Xbox Stereo Headset     with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
    adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.

    Don't hold your breath, Microsoft is remaining silent about the Xbox One headset adapter problems. If you browse these forums, it's pretty obvious that a lot of Xbox One owners are having problems with the adapter. I haven't had any problems with my controller
    disconnecting, but I have had a problem with flaky sound. I posted my experience, along with a solution here:

    Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t working

    If your Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t functioning well, check the following:

    Have you updated your controller’s software to support the Stereo Headset Adapter?

    Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions like audio and rumble get turned off to conserve the remaining power.

    Make sure your headset adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your stereo headset’s 3.5-mm cable is securely plugged into the headset adapter. You will know it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.
    If the mute light comes on and you have updated your controller but your headset isn’t working, consult the manual or manufacturer.

    Try your Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller if you can. If the adapter works on the second controller, try updating the first controller again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the Xbox Online
    Service Center.
