  1. Stereo Headset adapter cable issues.

Upon going to play the other day, I couldn't hear or talk to anyone even though the day before it worked perfectly. I reset my xbox and tried unplugging the adapter, cables etc. I joined a party by myself only to find that I heard static when I moved the
3.5mm to 2.5mm cable back forth slightly. I tried holding it in different position but it wouldn't register my voice at all. I'm guessing that the finicky adapter cable is the culprit and it seems to be quite a hassle getting a new one. I noticed that the
3.5mm plug has 4 different zones( 3 black lines) on the plug whereas most of the cables I've seen have 3.

I'm currently using A50's and really haven't had a problem with the adapter since I bought it in march but I don't want to have to keep buying new ones every 8 months. Seems like a huge waste. Has anyone else had problems with the cable or could it be something
    I'm overlooking?

    :)

  2. Can I use a Xbox one sterio headset with a DVI converter?

Just tested this and it will work.

Xbox One connected to a monitor using an HDMI Cable. Set the Display settings to DVI. Meaning no audio is being transferred over the cable. Attached Headset Audio adapter to an updated xbox one controller and plugged in the Xbox One Stereo headset to the
adapter, got Stereo sound on the headset without any issues.

  3. How do we update the controller? NO USB Cable comes with Xbox One.

About updating controller, To use the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter with your Xbox One Console, you’ll need to update your Xbox One Controller with the latest software to support the Adapter.

    This is from:
    support.xbox.com/.../update-controller-for-stereo-headset-adapter

So Titanfall controller update is done by over air, no cable, (February update) and Stereo Headset Adapter controller update you need an cable, which comes with the adapter (March update).

Please explain the headphone situation for me

This is correct. Using the Xbox One Stereo Adapter (support.xbox.com/.../stereo-headset-adapter), you can use any of the following types of headsets:

◦A single 3.5-mm audio cable headset.

◦A dual 3.5-mm audio cable headset with 3.5-mm CTIA audio cables.

◦A headset with chat audio provided by a 3.5-mm audio cable and game audio provided by a separate cable with RCA or optical connectors. (Only chat audio will be enabled through the Stereo Headset Adapter. For RCA/optical connectors [game audio], follow the
manufacturer’s instructions to connect to the console.)

◦An Xbox 360 Wired Headset with a 2.5-mm audio cable. Connect to the Stereo Headset Adapter by using the 2.5-mm-to-3.5mm adapter that’s included with the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter.

As far as suggestions, that is a little harder for me to do. I am a huge gamer on console and PC and I strongly recommend Steelseries headsets, however, if you are an audiophile or use them for more multimedia related things, someone may be able to suggest
    a better headset/headphones.

Xbox One S and Official Stereo Headset Adapter not recognized

    Hi Zathrus,

    We have two of the
    Xbox Stereo Headset
with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.

    Xbox one App

•Some third-party products come with a stereo headset adapter that may look different from the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter made by Microsoft, but they all function the same way.

•You can only connect an Xbox 360 Chat Headset using the stereo headset adapter with a 2.5-mm to 3.5-mm converter, which comes with the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. The Xbox One Stereo Headset does not include this adapter cable.
