Steaming through 4k Laptop instead of 4k TV for Xbox One X. Same result?

Instead of buying a 4k TV for an Xbox One X, will I get good quality 4k resolution if I use the Windows Xbox One app to stream games using a laptop that supports 4k? Or does the streaming destroy the quality of resolution and hence it is better to use a
    4k TV?

    :)

Xbox One X won't play 4K from Sky Q through input and output HDMI Connection

The HDMI IN on the XBOX ONE / ONE S / ONE X are all just 1080P there is no 4K pass through on those consoles.

The Xbox One S Supports 4K Bluray and 4K screen resolution - not 4K gaming

The Xbox One X Supports 4K Gaming, 4K Bluray and 4K screen resolution

    - Game developer has to make the game 4K

    - 4K pass-through is a hardware feature that does not exist within the console. You'd be better

off running your 4k Sky Q into the TV directly. (the xbox is doing what it's designed to do)

  3. Xbox One X 4K pass thru?

When you say 4K pass through, are you talking about a 4K source sending the TV signal to the Xbox and then to the TV? Or sending the Xbox1 X 4K signal to pass through a 4K receiver and then to the 4K TV?

On anything as small as laptop screen you cannot experience anything better with 4k(2160p) compared to 1080p.

It's all about viewing angle - and if having 27" on normal computer viewing distance you might be ok.

If looking for a tv in a room 60" or so to even see a difference normal watching 2-2.5m away or so.

Did calculations on 4k from this site:

RED Digital Cinema | Red 101

So around 40 degrees viewing angle is where you start seing a difference with as many as 3840 dots.

How much you loose streaming is about bitrate and don't know what streaming with Xbox app will allow.

So your question is clearly relevant and what you should investigate.

Full hd(1080p) start looking really good at about 18 Mbps, so to see a difference expect something like 40 Mbps and up for UHD.

You might be better off using FHD and get better bitrate.

Ye you'd be pretty much destroying any benefit you get from it being 4K as I doubt the streaming app would stream at native 4k, more like 1080p

  6. One thing to consider - how many games are actually even 1080p?

    Have a look here:

PS4 vs. Xbox One Native Resolutions and Framerates - Xbox One Wiki Guide - IGN

There is quite a few at 720p even, and many at 900p.

But a proper X1X enhancement would certainly cure that. But a lot of upscaling will be there as well.

If having a 18 Mpixel camera, images are usually something like 5000x3500 or similar. Take some images and downsize one of each too on usb drive and visit a shop and have a look and compare if you can actually see a difference. If my 1080p display and maybe
consider 4k one - I would certainly do that test. We are really at where eyes can resolve these extra pixels or not.
