    Steam coming to Xbox ?

Bon3zz1001 is right here, the chances of this happening are about as likely as a PlayStationNetwork App surfacing on the ONE, or an Explicit Adult Content App appearing on this Family Friendly Network. I find it "absolutely hilarious" how those who tout
here daily (some hourly) on how fulfilling their XBOX ONE experience has been so far are all ready lobbying for more porridge from somebody else less than ONE year after launch, if the ONE has supposedly all the best games then why such a need for a "Steam
App"? Something that I believe can all ready be downloaded to your cellphone if you really want it. If you want to Stream your Steam library to another device, you STILL have to have a well fortified host PC as Bon3zz1001 has all ready eluded to, and most
certainly something considerably more powerful than a ONE console...Steam coming to Xbox ? :)

First of all @bon3 your condescending attitude is not something I will respond to anymore but if steam is such a great thing, then that makes total sense for PC gamers to stop using it and getting great deals just because a service might appear on a console,
i know not all PC players are as ideological as you.

@Arkham I'm quite happy with the games on X1 more so than PS4 which is why I stuck with X1. But having choice is never a bad thing. If it never happens I could care less. I commented on this thread as I think it's quite possible for it to happen and that
I think steam machines will be a failure from the start.

3rd parties will drop making these things as quick as possible if they don't sell when launched.

I think that they're gonna fly, especially the first out of the gate the 'AlienWare Alpha', which is coming shipped with Windows installed and a 360 Controller due to vALVE pushing back release of their own Controller & OS to 2015 in order to perfect them.
This Console/PC is reasonably priced at $549 and will probably take a big bite into the 360 user base who are looking to alternatives because of their understandable reservations about the ONE. No worries about Backwards Compatibility here for it'll play
BOTH the old & the new on Steam. No worries about having to adapt to (or buy) a new controller for the 360 Controller is STILL the best one out there. Not to mention the significant savings from no longer having to pay for monthly/yearly membership dues.
The savings on future game purchases over the next 5-10 years will be the real clincher.

"failure from the start"? Sure you're not talking about the ONE here? Microsoft have their work cut out for them if they hope to retain even HALF of their current 360 base for the next generation, SONY has all ready cut into that number and soon there
will be others to follow, I'd be more worried about the ONE surviving than a market for new PCs or "consoles" capable of what the ONE can't. Steam's staggering growth over even just the past year has hardware manufacturers salivating and they want in. If
you can't beat 'em, join 'em, and that's what this "Steam coming to Xbox ?" talk is really all about, or Microsoft all but abandoning their 'Games For Windows LIVE' platform and making moves like piggybacking on the release of the 'AlienWare Alpha' this year,
they couldn't possibly consider a Linux based OS a threat now, could they?...Steam coming to Xbox ? :)

Gee, I wonder if secretly you want to see the Xbox One fail. You hide it so well.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I think that the source of this "rumour" (if it can even be called that) is from a very recent 'DOTA 2' update where tweaks were made to their Map Editor and Modding Tools. A lot of attention was given to a Line of Code
which contains this: L: game/dota_imported/resource/ui/xboxdialogs.res@2166751. Some quickly jumped the gun and had grand delusions of this equating to 'DOTA 2' (or
Steam) coming to XBOX, but further analysis of the entire update makes a strong case for vALVE putting the final touches on finally unveiling its new 'Source2' gaming engine. This code in particular looks to be no more than something put in place for future
development options on the XBOX utilizing the new engine, such as porting 'Left4Dead 3' for the XBOX and NOTHING to do with making 'DOTA 2' or Steam "compatible" for XBOX...Steam coming to Xbox ? :)

  6. Steam sucks, there support is the worst in the world, takes them 1 week to reply , still havnt even been able to change to my new computer because Steam email service doesnt work, and they want me to take photos of all my CD-keys, What a joke, i just gave
    up in the end

All valve games are boring garbage also, let the PC elites play there lame Source engine junk for another decade... only reason i wanted it is because Company of Heroes moved over to this garbage, dont even play my other lame steam games

  7. Source is a great game engine and still capable of amazing things, you only need to look at Titanfall in order to see that.

I have to agree about their customer service though, it is very lacking. I'm also not sure how you are meant to take photos of your CD Keys if you can't access your account, try telling them that.

For all their many faults I've actually found EA's customer service for Origin to be excellent.

    Steam coming to Xbox ?

I hope this is true, there are so many great older rpg games i would like to play there. This would make Xbox One a much more desired console!

  9. A big issue would be that if they did allow the streaming of games from your PC to a Steam app on the One is the lack of keyboard and mouse support for the console.

If all you are going to be able to play are the controller enabled games then you may as well just buy the Xbox One version of the game in the first place.

    Steam coming to Xbox ?

And that right there shows you don't know much about the PC gaming community whatsoever. I mean I can keep doing this for as long as you want seeing as I have a sleep disorder and I got nothing else to do to kill time at 6:40am. You can "lol doubt it" all
you'd like but it doesn't change the truth whatsoever.

    Steam coming to Xbox ?

And EA isn't Valve. One company thrives on PC and the other off multiplats. Steam constantly has around 4.5 million+ at any concurrent time and sometimes hitting over 7 million and we're not even considering unique users per day here at all. If Valve cared
about -your- money then they would have already sold themselves out at this point and right now they have no reason to do that whatsoever. Not to mention if something like that did happen there would without a doubt be a mass boycott by pc gamers and say goodbye
to their money. Reality is on PC Steam is what you're saying it's not. Right now there is no competition whatsoever. Uplay and Origin can't even compete or come close to the scale of what Steam is today.

    Steam coming to Xbox ?

I still wouldn't rule out a steam App for Xbox or Playstation. No one saw EA Access coming. If a deal is done with Gabe you could see him pulling the plug on his Official Steam machine and leave the 3rd party manufacturers swinging in the breeze. It this
lack of commitment from Valve at this stage that says they aren't that sure of this concept either. More money to be made if he allowed the steam library on every device and MS seem more open to this now more than ever. Don and Steve are not here anymore.

    Steam coming to Xbox ?

^You're not serious are you? Or are you one of those people that think the Steam machine is being marketed as a console? It's entire purpose is for streaming games from your main PC to the box. Any company can even go ahead and make a "Steambox". All it
is is a compact PC with SteamOS on it (Which is just linux which is free to begin with). A steam app will never happen on the Xbox One. Valve has literally no reason to do it and nothing to gain from it. It feels like you don't even know much about them to
begin with seeing as you think Steam is the name of their company.
