I was using my Xbox 360 just fine yesterday to watch Netflix and play some Minecraft. Well for the last 24 hours, I have tried to install he latest system update so I can continue to use my Xbox live Gold account. I keep getting an error message with a
status code of 42FE-0000-3080-03000-D000-0185. I've tried cleaning out my cache. I still receive this message. I have removed my jump drive and I still get this message. I have turned the console off and tried reinstalling it and I still get this message.
I also noticed that now 3 out of the 4 profiles that were on there are also not showing up. It appears they have been deleted but I know they have to still be there as the memory for them is still being used. I am not sure if this makes sense, but I am
at a lost at what to do next.... Please help!

Update problem - maybe bad hard disk

This worked for me when I received status code 42FC-0000-3080-0508-d000-0185

Status Code: 42FE 0000 3080 0300 D000 0185

I am having the exact same problem since Christmas Day. It tells me there is an update and then the update fails with this error code 42fe-0000-3080-0300-d000-0185.

Help! My kids are sad.

Thank you for your help! I think the Xbox 360 gave completely out. It won't even turn on now. The last time it was on tonight, it made a really loud humming sound like the fan was working really hard in there. Then the green light turned red. Now
when I go to turn it on, it won't turn on at all.

That's not good at all. Was it a slim model? If so and you have a hard drive then the drive can be moved to a different slim or E model console if you choose to repair or replace it.

It was a 4 GB model (Color: black) that we bought about 1 1/2 years ago. It was not a slim model. We did go and replace it with a 500 GB model (Color: black, not slim) today. It seems like we were able to save most of the files on the jump drive that had
xbox live profiles but not the files of our one offline profile. Thank you for your help! And I was able to install the new update too
