Status Code: 42FE 0000 3080 0300 D000 0185

I have two weeks trying to update on my Xbox 360 4g and this with this code above.

already tried with usb as speech here on the site however did not work.

almost all works on Xbox360 however I can not sign in to Live and can not watch TV.

however the Xbox DVD is working, and I can play some games.

I do not know what else to do - someone has the solution ???

Sorry to hear it. That error code suggests there's an issue with the storage device. If you have an Xbox 360 hard drive attached to your console (not the 4GB internal flash) then remove it an any other flash drives that you may have attached and try the
update again.

If you do not have any other drives then you may need to purchase a hard drive or send your console in for repairs.

 

Have you also tried clearing your cache after removing your external if you have one? that can sometimes fix the issue of updates

 

I also need some help. I have the same error code. I tried removing external drives then clear cache; even tried formatting the 4 gig drive. Nothing works. I tried doing the update from a flash drive and still get the error. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Sometimes people by aftermarket xbox's and don't know it. With these xbox's updates will not work at the hard drive will become unformatted. If you have done everything you should call 1-800-4MYXBOX and see if you can trade in your xbox for a new one.

 

The funny thing is my xbox worked perfectly before the "christmas" attack. It popped up on christmas day and say i had to update or couldn't connect to live anymore. I tried updating. It went half way through the process and froze. I unplugged the power
to the xbox and plugged it back up and now I can see the files again on the 4g memory drive. My profiles are back but I cannot delete or write to the 4g memory. I still get the same code. I cannot clear any space off of the 4g drive or install to it. There
are also corrupted files on it now.

 

i tried to play today with my xbox 360 and still need update but now i can see my profile again, but show i am online but when i try to play they disconnect and say i need to update , of course this is a problem with xbox 360 live connection, because the
xbox 360 device work everything without the online . but just when going online , they go online but disconnected next . and the update not accept no because have a problem with the Xbox 360 device , but have a problem with xbox 360 live system. today the
update give me a new code error 42FE - 0000 - D080 - 0200 - 8007 - 045D

I WISH THE SySTEM COME BACK TO NORMAL. AND XBOX 360 LIVE SySTEM FIX THIS AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE.

 

Having the same issue with my 4gb 360s. Corrupted memory that I can't erase. Been a problem sense the night xbl went down.

I am having the exact same problem since Christmas Day. It tells me there is an update and then the update fails with this error code 42fe-0000-3080-0300-d000-0185.

Help! My kids are sad.

Sorry to hear about the update issues. As Onyx said above, error code D000 0185 suggests that a storage device was not found during the software update. If you haven't already, please give the following steps a try:

• Turn off your console.
• Remove all console storage devices, including any USB flash drives, external hard drives or the internal hard drive on the Xbox 360 E console or Xbox 360 S console. Learn how
  to remove the hard drive.
• Add your primary storage device, for example, the hard drive.
• Turn on the console
• Try updating the console again.
