I just bought a new xbox 360 slim with a 250 GB hard drive,

the console works fine but I need to connect to the internet to try xbox live I even have the free xbox live I month subscriptions that I didn't use yet

the console connects to the internet but asks to download an update and it does then it gives me the above status code bu not processing the update

I tried the wireless, wired method also the usb and cd methods as well still no use

what do I do ??

my kid asks me that he wants to play with his friends online , and that's frustrating

as I understand your only resolution is to contact Xbox Support and report your issue.

Error code C800-0036 would indicate that your console has been tempered with or modified. A console that has been tempered with or modified will be banned and can no longer connect to Xbox LIVE, install software updates, or play games that require a console
software update.
