Stats and Leaderboards

Yeah, I know gen/prestige doesnt mean "skillful", but peeps could/would not prestige just so they could pawn noobs 24/7. I was responding to another guys post about matching gen with gen. The easiest way to have something "competetive" would be just have
a playlist for it. If you want competetiveness, play that playlist, if not, play normal pubs. No need to reprogram any matchmaking, just add a "competetive/clan/whatever" playlist in an update.

 

@Durashka what is the point of a leaderboard if it doesn't mean anything?

@mitchell you still need match making for competitive lobbies, infact more so, otherwise its not competitive.

Leaderboards not a bad idea, competitive play list not a bad idea, doing them properly will take a lot of work.

Respawn wanted a fun game, making it competitive goes against what they planned, no idea if they plan on changing their mind.

 

@Durashka - The point leaderboards is to stop the people who would look at them from looking at them so that the people who don't care to look at them don't have to deal with the inevitable behavioral changes that come from the people who do look at them.

The minute Respawn puts up global leaderboards is the minute that nefarious players start trying to manipulate that aspect of the game. Perhaps that outcome can be countered by Respawn's anit-cheating mechanisms. But for now, not having leaderboards is keeping
this game pretty pure and that's a welcome feeling for some of us who have put up with boosters and cheaters for the last several years in COD.

I personally don't care how I compare with anybody else. I don't take the game nearly that seriously, but I do understand why some people would like to see leaderboards. In 9 years of playing COD, I bet I didn't look at a leaderboard more than four times.
But I certainly sat in lobbies and listened to some players drone on and on about this stat or that stat. Actually now that I think about it, I haven't had to listen to any of that since popping titanfall into my machine! So I suppose I'm actually glad
they don't have it! I'm sure I'm in the minority though.

 

@jay I don't think you are in the minority, but the people spouting in the lobbies will be the same vocal people on the forums asking for it, and all the people who muted the people spouting will happy for now at least.

 

whats the point in just winning matches if the lobby or people around the world cant see how everyone else is doing, half the enjoyment is looking at the worldwide leaderboards, im sure they could keep them clean if they made the effort, if people are bothered
about k/d ratio they could always not include it.

be connected well to each other or to the same dedicated server. The "best" way would be to have the "competetive" playlist. Whomever joins this list is looking for "competetive" games. The matchmaking would then be as usual and start connecting people (within
the competetive playlist) via Ping, Latency, or Region) to ensure the competetive people were connected well with each other. Connections has to always be "first" and most important in the matchmaking "search. JMHO.
