Static through HDMI in

Static can be heard randomly (most noticeable in quiet scenes) when watching content through HDMI in.

Basically renders the feature unusable (unless you're deaf of course).

Apple TV connected through HDMI in.

Doesent produce static sound when plugged directly (actually reusing XB1's HDMI cable).

Dolby Sound Issues?

So I switch to Dolby for sound through HDMI, and now my sound is static and it crackles. Is this normal??

 

Xbox One WiFi problem

I have a router but I have no idea about how to assign a static IP address. Do you do it through the router or through the Xbox One?

Sorry to hear about the static issue! Let's start with a power cycle and see if the issue persists. For a full power cycle, follow the steps below:

• Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
  
• Once the unit is powered off, unplug the power cable and the HDMI cables from the Xbox One console and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  
• Plug the power back into the unit and power the console on.

Didn't fix a thing, as I expected.

It's most likely a good ol' scheduling issue. Nothin' to do with static discharging.

Your software engeneers should look into it.

Sorry to hear the issue is persisting. Do you happen to be in the preview program? If you are, please post this in the Preview Forums so the proper
folks can see this. Regardless, I would try a different device to use that HDMI In port if you can. Whether it is a cable box or an Xbox 360. This is just to see if the static persists with other devices besides the Apple TV, which will help us narrow down
the issue.

 

I get the same thing occasionally with my Humax HD FOX T2 Freeview HD set top box in the UK.

Its a fairly recent issue, there haven't been any software updates on my Freeview box, so therefore must assume that its something in Xbox that has changed.

Sorry to hear you are seeing a similar issue. If you haven't already, post a new thread with any details you have along with any troubleshooting steps you have followed. That will allow the community here to provide support tailored specifically to you!

 

I can't easily plug another device to test if the issue persist. I'm fairly certain it would though. Some time ago I got a WiiU plugged that way and I got heavy static issues at the time. It looks like you fixed it to some extent in a later update, but did
not manage to eradicate the problem entirely.

I'm not enlisted to the preview program. I was a few months ago though.

 

If you could give it a shot sometime, please post back. We'd really like to see if the issue currently persists on other devices and not just the Apple TV!

 

Tried a bunch of stuff this morning.

Basically tried pretty much every setting I could find in the Bone settings menu.

One thing I can confirm, issue appears in both HDMI sound and optical out (TOSLINK).

Issue also seems to appear after a random amount of time. It does not appear right away.

Changing video or audio settings seems to delay the issue's appearance (yet again).

It REALLY looks like something is not working properly on the software side.

 

Just noticed I didn't try the "surround effect" setting in the TV App (the one that requires a reboot).

Trying it now. Not sure why it's not enabled by default as it seems it does not interfere with stereo passthrough (I have a strict stereo setup).

 

Nah. No luck.

Sad thing is I could bypass HDMI audio by plugging the AppleTV directly to my DAC, but the Bone's HDMI in latency would render the thing unwatchable.
