  1. Static on Xbox one home screen and menus

I'm not sure of a better way to describe than static or interference.

    It is intermittent.

It it seems as if when you sit on a page too long and then move off to another menu page like settings for example, there is a static remnant on screen where there was a graphic or a box such as your gamerpic.

It it just looks like minor interference in the shape of the outline of the object that was there or in a line.

Tiny rainbowish colored flashing pixels pixels that look like static.

As you you cycle through different menus, it gets better or worse and eventually disappears. Going to a video source like tv or a game appear to refresh the pixels and they go away if you immediately go back to Home.

It is worth noting that I have had a replacement console already and they both have done this.

When I speak to support, nobody I have spoken to has heard of this and it is not listed as a known issue.

i fear it is a hardware issue, perhaps the graphic adapter or the hdmi out port. I have never seen this on a video source even when looking closely at the same area that was just doing it. it has never initiated while a game or video source is playing as
    far as I have observed.

My television is a Panasonic 65" VT50 plasma and my xbox runs through my Denon AVR-1911 receiver and monitor out to the television.

If anyone has seen this at any time over the last 6-7 months please chime in. If you have any insight, please chime in.

This has troubled me for awhile and I have finally got the inspiration to put it in writing in the support forum. Many thanks for reading and I hope someone out there knows what the heck I'm talking about. It's hard to give an accurate description. I'm sure
I could get 30 seconds of video showing it at some point if needed. It is intermittent and can't put my finger on what exactly triggers it aside from sitting on a screen ay Home or other menu feature app, like Settings, Friends or Store for a little bit.

    Thanks again.

    :)

    Titanfall Menu Locations

I have an issue with the menus on the left side of the screen always having text in the same spot. I have some burn in because the menus always start on the top left and I can see text burned in on my TV. Can the menus be adjusted so there isn't text always
on the top left of the screen? During the game there aren't any static images and I wish the menus when you are waiting, challenges, buildouts, etc are not in the same spot all the time. When you change to a different menu, it would be nice if it transitioned
to a different part of the screen.

    Blank screen of death???

Right I have an issue. Just powered on my xbone it went to the home screen as per usual and I started playing killer instinct. I pressed the xbox button to return home and the screen goes blank and an xbox symbol pops up in the right hand corner. I have the xbox running through an amp and as im moving the stick on the controller about I can hear that it is moving around the menus. Press the xbox button to return to game and picture comes back. So I finish up playing and go home and the same thibg happens screen is black but I can hear if I move the controller stick about it is def on the home screen going through the menus. I can do voice commands and everything works bar having a black screen when at home. Tried switching it off amd on and its exactly the same.
    Anyone else had this issue???

Static on Xbox one home screen and menus

    Hi AtomicVariable,

What you seeing is called Image Retention, this is caused by the phosphors that create the image to continue to glow after being in an excited state for a given time. The result leaves a temporary image trace that can linger on screen. The brighter the image
on the screen, the more it excited the phosphor causing the trace to possibly last longer on screen.

To protect your plasma TV from image retention caused by the Xbox, try on to stay on the home or menu screens for a long period of time and try not to have your image brightness set too high. Also most modern day plasma TVs have something called Anti Image
Retention under the settings that help avoids these screen burns, so check your TV setting to see if you have this and turn it on.

  5. Thank you. I have experienced IR from the logo in the top right corner, but that appears as a ghosted image rather than staticy "excited" pixels/phosphors.

Are you sure this is the exact issue and that it is not possibly hardware related?

My VT50 does have an anti IR setting. I will make sure that is on and further evaluate.

    Thanks for the dialogue.

  7. Ok, it may be awhile. Last photo attempts were poor and could not discern the issue. It came out on a video fairly well. I am hoping I do not have anti IR turned on. I do not think I do. I have one display mode calibrated by a certified tech and the tv comes
stock with a THX pre calibrated mode. I use the THX mode even over the one the tech did and, if memory serves me, you can not turn on the anti IR on that display mode. I will make sure that anti IR is enabled, even if I have to change display modes for awhile
to test and see if the problem persists or goes away. In the event anti IR is already on and the problem resurfaces, I will try and shoot a quick vid for you tube and see if I can get a picture to post here. I am not sure how to post photos here but I imagine
I could paste the link for a video.

Thanks again, this has been bugging me since release day and, as I mentioned, even with a replacement console. I have never been able to find anything remotely close to what I would describe so far on anything Xbox One related.

Also, separate question but perhaps you or someone else reading can assist, do you know how I can receive a notification when there is a reply? I have checked the box on the forum reply box that says "email me when somebody replies" or something similar
but have never once received an email notification for any thread updates ever. I always have to come back and refresh the forum home page to see if any of my conversations have been updated.

  9. Just to make sure I am being clear as well, anything I have read anywhere about IR and excited phosphors has to do with a lingering image. This clearly looks like static/interference. Random pixels along the edge of the image or whatever was on the screen
flickering on and off randomly. The image itself is not lingering at all. The only thing I have experienced that looks like clear IR on the Xbox One is the logo in the top right corner of the menus and settings and some apps. I can clearly see the image there
when doing something else, such as watching tv. This is not the same phenomenon as the subject of this post.

Re-reading your posts I could possibly be some interference of some description and a hardware issue but there are a few things you can tried before thinking of sending your Xbox One off to MS.

How do you have your Xbox One, Receiver and TV setup cable wise?

Are you US, European based or other?

  11. US region

8742HDC Cisco Mocha set top cable box connected to HDMI IN of Xbox One.

Xbox One HDMI OUT to my Denon AVR-1911 receiver.

Denon HDMI Monitor Out to a Panasonic Viera TC-P65VT50 (65") plasma.

The "static" only occurs when in the Xbox One Home screen or settings menus. Going to any full motion video source like TV and back to Home makes it go away quickly.

  12. Ok, so I cannot confirm this to be a TV issue yet but I am leaning that way now.

After some research on my Panasonic Viera P65VT50 I have discovered the following:

    1) I have been using the THX Bright Room mode. THis is max brightness and contrast. SOme may call it torch mode. Not good at all with the Xbox One menus it would appear. Pixel Orbiter (anti IR tool I believe you were referring to above) is not an option
when the TV is on this display mode.

    2) The mode I had professionally calibrated was Cinema. Pixel Orbiter was disabled but can be enabled when in this mode. I have made sure it is enabled.

    3) I experienced this phenomenon again yesterday when in THX Bright Room. I switched to Cinema with Pixel Orbiter and ran the scrolling bars.

The issue cleared (which it normally does after switching to full screen motion source) but is yet to return. Of course my picture is much darker now.

I may just need to be mindful of what I am watching and switch modes accordingly. For example, use the THX Bright Room for gaming or when watching when there is glare or bright outside still and then switch to Cinema for evening or movie/cable viewing.

I cannot confirm this to be 100% true at this point but I am leaning heavily in that direction so I wanted to update the thread.

What I still find extremely odd, is all the types of image retention I read about involve the lingering of the image (which I do see on that blasphemous Xbox log in top right corner). Even the one with excited phosphors seems to indicate a lingering background
    image.

What I experience with the subject of this thread is different. More like a bunch of pixels that were where an image was sitting for X amount of time took some speed and decide to have a rave party when the screen changes.

Probably a poor example but that is a decent comparison to the difference between that and an actual lingering image.

Thanks for keeping up with me on this!

Static on Xbox one home screen and menus

I'm having the exact problem basically I'm on any xbox menu and random colours/ words flicker in the background or on the app tiles. But when a game is running the menus are just fine (no interferences or anything) but as soon as that game is closed the
flickering comes back. Tell me I'm not the only one who's experiencing this problem.

I've had a similar issue to this, with the static screen, but it was also accompanied by clear signs of graphical corruption. I contacted Microsoft to have the unit replaced, the replacement does not have graphical corruptions, but the static issue remains
persistent. Will try the troubleshooting here, and test on another TV. I also have a Panasonic TV, so wondering if it's limited to these.

I am also having this issue on my LG 47 inch LD460. While I'm at the home screen there are rainbowish flickering around certain letters and edges of the screen, and the screen cuts in and out intermittently to the point where I can't do anything. However,
when I click onto the settings menu, the flickering and the cutting in and out disappears. If I load a game, there is no flickering and it works perfectly.

Oddly, I cannot change my resolution to 1080p even thought my TV is capable of 1080p (if i switch it to 1080p the screens blacks out). I've tried using my Xbox One on a different TV and it works perfectly- it even runs on 1080p! I'm suspecting it's my TV
because I've tried switching out HDMI cables, and using different ports.

    This is so annoying.
