    Static on headset


    I just took out my headset that originally came with my Xbox when it was purchased a few years back. The Xbox was bought brand new, factory sealed and the headset was never touched as I had dialup and only played offline. I have high speed internet now and
    this weekend has a couple games that can be played free online so I decided to drag my headset out and try it out.

    I plugged it in, turned the volume up only to hear this horrible static, mixed with garbled voices that ranged from loud to quiet and I could never make out more than a word or two. I fiddled with the plug a little, turning it to different angles (my other
    headphones for cd players and such used to do that and adjusting them sometimes helped) and also unplugging and plugging it back in but nothing helped. Again, this was a brand new headset, never before used, still in it's baggy with tape sealing it. It's
    a wired headset, used with a wireless controller.

    If it makes a difference, I had the Mute on the entire time, and my internet is a 12mbps download/3mbps upload.

    Any ideas? Was the headset that was included just a piece of garbage, or is something else maybe going on?

    I have the same problem, waiting for MS to get this fixed (they have said in an update that they are working on it which is promising however)

    I picked up the headset adapter and updated my controllers. After doing so I noticed horrible static from the game audio through my solar A30 headset. Is this a bug from the march update? And if so does anyone know of a way to fix it?

    Hi

    If you have not already done so please try and carry out an update to the controller firmware as guided below to see if this helps with your problem please note as you have a slightly older controller you may need to carry out the update via a USB cable.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply. I actually posted this in the 360 forum though Static on headset :p This is for the Xbox 360 controller (the one I'm using is only a couple months old, bought brand new), with my headset that came with my Xbox 360 a few years ago. I'm on a metered
    bandwidth connection and can't get a next gen console because of all the internet requirements for the new systems Static on headset :(

    Same issue here.

    Using it with the Applea Earpod and I have the same issue since the first day... static noise all the time.

    I do not have this with any other device, just with the Stereo headset contreller of the XboxOne.
