    Static IP not working on a wired connection


    Hi.

    I have been trying to get a static IP address set up on my XBOX ONE but every time I try it will not take.

    I type the IP address then the subnet mask then the gateway but it will not let me proceed if the cable is in but if I take the cable out it goes to the next step (DNS server) no problem. However it will not save the IP address even when I plug the cable
    back in.

    It gives me the stupid 169.254.......... 255.255.......... ect.

    If I enable DHCP in my router I can connect no problem but I do NOT use DHCP nor do I use wireless.

    Please help me.

    Cant connect to the network (WIRED)

    Hey guys! i cant connect to my netwrok through wired connection!!

    i tried all the possibilities and also made several tests to make sure everything is working...

    my modem and router (respectively) : Cisco Cable modem 2100 , DLINK-524

    all test made:

    Connect direct to the modem----WORKING

    WIreless connection --- WORKING

    Connecting to the router dynamic and static ip---Not WORKING (wat i want)

    wat is wierd is that This pc is also wired connected and its working (automatic ip) !!

    i´m sure that some router´s config is the problem... but i cant manage to fix it!!

    any sugestions?!

    Won't connect with Ethernet cable

    Update: Rebooted everything and now Xbox One X reads wired connection but can't connect. Runs me through restarting modem, router and Xbox, then can't determine DHCP. I've confirmed DHCP is on, even set static IP address. Still nothing!

    Ready to return via Amazon unless can figure out why it's not working.

    I think I'm fixed.

    I unplugged my network cable to switch to the wireless connection and this seems to work. When wired, my xbox uses a static IP address ending in .98. My wireless IP address is dynamic and was assigned at .101

    What could have fixed this?

    Was the static IP Address the problem?

    Was it the fact that the last octet had only 2 digits?

    Or is it related to using wireless instead of wired?

    MY Xbox1 wont connect to the internet with a direct wired connection, but does connect wirelessly. Why is this an issue?

    Check the network options, which IP do you have with WLAN? Try with wired connection the same (static) IP-adress.

    I've been trying for ages to get this and cracked it I think.

    - Unplug ethernet

    - Connect to your wireless and add a static IP that's not the one you want, something else

    - Repeat for both 2G/5G channels

    - Plug ethernet back in and disconnect wireless

    - Add static IP you reserved/forwarded in advanced settings

    Mine worked. Seems it's a bug where if you set wireless static IP first, then wired afterwards thinks the wireless still has that IP address. Hope this helps.
