    Hello,quick question

Are you trying to connect the xbox through the wi fi signal or are you trying to use wi fi and the xbox at same time?

With a static ip address the router wont issue new ip's to your devices and not allow them to connect to the internet

Solutions 4-8 might help... mainly number 7, turn on dhcp

Also you can config the settings in your router (please refer to the user manual for that)

    Hi,

Yes as it is a static one and as you should dedicate it to your console from the DHCP list.

As Boombaa explained; the IP address on your console will remain the same, if not configured otherwise.

However; go by the rule to configure a unique IP address that is not within the range of your DHCP server's pool of leasable addresses. Most routers these days have a simple option to make sure the DHCP server doesn't try to lease an address that have been
set manually (static) for an IP speaking device. For example, your PC or Xbox etc. See if your router support DHCP reservation or IP reservation. If it do; then simply add the physical address, also known as the MAC-address, of your console's wired/Ethernet
interface, to the DHCP reservation list. You can then choose an IP address, on the same subnet, which is currently not in lease by the DHCP server, and that's it. You don't have to push in all the digits for an IPv4 address/subnet mask/default gateway/DNS
server into your console's network settings. This has already been taking care of from the configuration of the DHCP reservation list. The only thing left for you to do, is to verify that the configured IP address from the reservation list is the same as the
    one of your console's IP.

Once you have set your Xbox up with a static IP, you may swap that cable to use on as many devices as you want.

The router only reads information about a device from the MAC address, not the cable that's plugged into it.

As long as you have set up the static address right in your router, you could use any ethernet cable on any of the router ports to plug in your Xbox- and everything will work fine.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

The MAC address, or the physical medium, has nothing to do with an IP address. Those two are primary used for communication between NICs, being physical or logical, and signaling 1s and 0s over a physical medium.

Pardon?? We were talking about static IPs... A static IP works by reserving an IP address for a specific device.. The information that the router uses to identify each of these specific devices is its MAC Address... I don't see how you confused this. Thanks.
