State of the One

Well the xbox one has been out for quite awhile now and has gone through some large changes (no kinect, backwards compatibility, xbox one S). Personally I'm pretty happy with the way it has now shaped up and once I bought my one, I don't think I've turned
my ps4 on

I don't really use mine for netflix (kodi has taken care of that) or any apps. Really just a gaming box. I did install a 2 tb drive in mine shortly after purchase.

Sort of a general question to you all but what would you like to see added or reworked? Tthe xbox store still needs more work I think but otherwise I'm pretty pleased.

What about life span? the 360 was awesome and is still quite popular. Maybe another 5 years before we start seeing the 'next' xbox?

The sad state of State Of Decay 2

I recently purchased an XBox One X and have had no problems with it so far. However, I bought State of Decay 2 from my local Argos, and have had trouble with the game not installing/disc loading. All my other games work fine, but not this one for some reason.
I went back to Argos the next day and received a replacement disc.

The same thing happened. I loaded the disc, and it sounded like the console was trying to read it, but no luck. The game would not install.

Has anyone else had this, or similar problems?

 

State of the Game

0% of me has 2.0 im only .93 lol just being honest. But I'm rapidly rising from .73 so ya. It was a nice learning curve from the usual and none of my mates wanted to play BF they all "stuck" with that other game. Just found out yesterday I really like
the AK with the assault class, on TDM. And I'm trying to get more evasive with the jets so I can really put the rocketpods to use. I run mostly recon and a lot of mav with it. I just unlocked mortars for support and wish other people would consider running
MAV when they hear the shells falling, I also noticed you can launch lots of smoke grenades with the mortar - very cool.

 

Well the next xbox has been confirmed for holiday 2017. I can't wait.

I love this console. There are so many good games in my opinion. In fact I'm so backed up with good games I'm only just now getting around to playing Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The only thing I would like to see change is the length of the game DVR clips.

 

Like you I use my console for gaming only and I have been pleased with the performance. What I would like to see is for them to consider slowing up on the new functionality and focus on some of the software issues some gamers seem to be experiencing. It
seems to be those gamers that use a lot of the other functionality other than playing games.

I thing the next console that everyone is looking forward to in the xbox family is Scorpio which is about 14 -15 months away.

Shut up!? 2017 is possible release? I don't doubt you, just surprised. With the release of the xbox one s, I'd have considered that the mid life of the one and wouldn't expect any 'next-next gen ' until 2020

When I got Xbox 1 with Kinect at the midnight launch, it couldn't do a lot of stuff Xbox 360 could. Today, it's a HUGE improvement compared to what it was like at launch. And I've lived through it.

Xbox Scorpio is planned for release next year and it's going to be like 10x more powerful than the original Xbox 1. Ok I'm overexagerating, but it will have 320GB/s GDDR5 bandwidth compared to 68GB/s DDR3 bandwidth and it will be able to play every game
in native 1080p 60fps and maybe 4k gaming 30fps. And maybe VR too. Microsoft also must and needs to use an SSD for internal console storage, or have removable storage console options something which Xbox 360 has. People are quick to lose patience with a 5400rpm
or 7200rpm HDD's loading times. And SSD can start up a PC in 10 seconds. Where as an HDD takes 2-3 minutes.

As for Xbox 360, I even play on it a lot more. People don't care it has weaker hardware. It's just that Microsoft makes the best online service which consoles have ever had. Xbox Live. Avatars, voice messaging, parties, UI layout with you and your friends
Xbox avatars. It's a well known fact that Xbox 360 today still has much more people active on it than Xbox 1 currently has.

What I have noticed is that Xbox 1 utilizes 300,000+ Microsoft servers worldwide, a massive leap from the 15,000 Microsoft servers which Xbox 360 uses. Everyone lags in Minecraft Xbox 360 no matter how good your ISP is. The bottleneck is the limited amount
of servers Xbox 360 has. When I jump on Minecraft Xbox 1, multiplayer is fluid and so much smoother, even with playing with other people on the other side of the world. Also YouTube on Xbox 1 has no problems loading quickly and playing lots of videos.

While some may not consider Xbox Scorpio or Project Scorpio to be next gen, the reality is it is a next gen console. It's a serious and major hardware revision. Not calling Xbox Scorpio next gen is like calling Xbox 360 a 6th gen console or Xbox 1 a 7th
gen console. There is major and serious hardware revision in between.

yes Xbox one utilises 300.000 servers from the Azure platform, unfortunately evey business on the planet that uses Microsoft applications also uses those servers and do all the general public for email and onedrive etc etc.

So in essence then Xbox Live uses a percentage of this system and this wil be a small percentage. Also Azure is not the most reliable system by far, just look at alot of businesses where outlook is down or slow and office online becomes just unusable.

Overall I've been very happy with the XB1. I've had some hiccups along the way but nothing that has put me off.

The main reason I buy a console is for the games and up to yet I've had a lot of fun and it only looks like it's going to get better whether for exclusives/multi platform games. Some great looking titles not too far off

I recently upgraded to the Xbox One Slim. It's been great watching 4K/HDR movies on it. Even though for me it's all about gameplay first but I am interested to see what difference HDR games like Forza Horizon 3 will be like. Some saying the difference will
be HUGE, others only small but I'll see for myself soon.

Then we have Scorpio next year. Very interested to see where Microsoft go with that but one thing I have zero interest in is VR. Microsoft & Sony seem to be going all out with this but I do wonder if it will catch on or after 6 months people lose interest.
Again it's not for me but hope it works out for those investing in it

 

I too have no interest in VR, I would really like to see some cross platform match making (PS4 vs Xbox One). I just think it would be entertaining to have console battles but also increase the player base. Some games overtime quickly die down (The Division)
and this would likely extend the life of certain games.

On a semi-related note, I have both ps4 and xbox one. PS4 was a gift, xbox one I purchased about 12 months after. I find myself really spending more time on xbox one. The xbox live service (imho) is just so much smoother than the ps4 network.
