State of Decay 2 Xbox Login Issues

I'm having an issue playing State of Decay 2 through Steam. I launched the game, chose a Microsoft account and corresponding Xbox account to play on, and all was well. Two days later, I signed out of my account (via the "switch accounts" button in the main menu of the game) and was prompted to sign back in. After signing back in, it prompts me to select an Xbox account but there are no options, it is just blank.

So far I have tried a different Microsoft account (including the one that worked initially), reinstalling the game, removing all xbox live credentials using the credentials manager, and deleting all information in appdata. None of that has worked. I even tried launching the game on my brother's steam account, and it still doesn't work even though he can play the game on his account on his computer. This verifies that it is either an issue on my computer (or, less likely, Microsoft's servers?). However, I've exhausted all the troubleshooting I know and have no idea where to go from here. I haven't had luck finding anyone else with the same issue, either. Any and all help is much appreciated!

Thanks for the reply Christopher! Yes, this is the only game I have with this issue. In fact, it is the only game I have on PC that requires and Xbox account to play (to my knowledge). It stopped working over the course two days, from when I first launched the game on August 1st and stopped working when I tried to sign back in on the 3rd. In between it kept me logged in, so this was the second time logging in since playing the game. Also the only game requiring an Xbox account, I didn’t play any other games requiring and Xbox account in between. Also perhaps worth reiterating: I have purchased the game through steam and not on the Microsoft store. Hope this helps, let me know if there’s anything else I can help clarify!

Hey Chris,

I was busy yesterday, and was going to try this today. However, I noticed that there was an update for SOD2 on Steam. Wondering if that might fix it (but not exactly hopeful) I tried anyway before attempting to run as admin. To my surprise however, it worked! This time I was successfully able to choose my xbox account at launch, and successfully got to the main menu for the first time since this issue began. With that, I believe the issue is resolved. I can't think you enough for your attempts at helping! Knowing that I wasn't just shouting into the dark was very reassuring.

Okay have you tried launching the game as administrator?
