Starting to get feed up with the XB1 UI

Mine has been laggy since day 1, doesn't affect gaming though.

 

Seems to me you don't spend enough time playing games, get off the UI and into some gaemz!

But seriously I was hating it at first, but it's only getting better for me!

 

No major issues worth noting here.

I do want to ask though - does having the console on power-saver mode help speed up the UI or help keep it from slowing down at all?

 

From time to time, depending on the game I am playing it might slow down. But I think it is related to the game not the overall UI. Also, think of this console like a late '80s to mid '90s PC. From time to time, it will slow
down when multiple things are going on. You may need to close out apps by hitting start and closing the app/digital game.

The same can be said of my Lumina 925, which shares the Windows 8 OS. And when I don't close out multiple apps, my phone slows down. Now, after most times I open an app. When I am done, I will close the app out and move on.

 

I love the UI but it is very slow sometimes. Yesterday I got a message while playing BF. It took 12 seconds to open this message and 47 seconds after I hit reply until it opened the empty message for the reply. Thats way to slow!

 

I've had Xbox 1 Day 1 and I can confirm navigating the Dashboard *VIA the controller* IS slower than navigating the Xbox 360 Dashboard via the controller. Voice commands are quicker tho. But voice commands aren't available by default in some countries including
NZ without temporarily changing locale. I don't get why it's slower on a new gen console with better hardware either. It's not solely your internet speed, but the way they designed the software behind both 360 and 1 Dashboard's. However navigation speeds have
improved since launch for Xbox 1. Xbox 360 has the Xbox Guide menu which is very handy for Xbox 360.

Xbox ruled the competition from last gen in regards to Party Chat. Xbox Live Party runs very well is user friendly and fun and can kick peps out of the party. Xbox 1's Dash is a bit too Windows 8 it looks like they put a PC operating system onto a gaming
console. Not to mention voice messaging and change the Dash background with themes or pictures to your liking. On Xbox 360 you can QUICKLY get to things like Party Achievements Friends without waiting several seconds. M for sure will keep releasing updates
to improve user experience.

 

Mine has been instant. I mean, with the actual start up aside it takes about 10 - 15 seconds to turn on but that's because I don't have instant on, activated. Once the console gets to the dashboard its fast and I cant say I have had any issues with it.

 

I'd be interested to know whether the people who say it's instant are in the USA and the ones who say it is slow (like myself) are in the UK.

I'm convinced the UI delay is network related - the X1 console is getting the activity/messages etc. when a user brings up that part of the dashboard.

(personally think MS ensure the activity/messages/friends status etc. is all kept up to date behind the scenes so that when a user decides to look at it then there's no need to hit the servers).

Yes the whole UI seems slower for Me on the X1 compared to the 360. I use both 360 and X1 everyday at the moment, so this is something that is very noticeable for me. I got an achievement on the 360 a few days ago, hit the guide when the notification came
up and it instantly brought up the achievements. If you do the same on the X1 there is a big delay.

@ satsumo the lag is ALSO related to the software as well. FACT. Just like Windows 7 performs better than Windows Vista (I upgraded OS on my old PC I've tried both and when I opened Task Manager, Vista used more resources than 7). The Xbox 1 consoles hardware
is more than up to the job. But fact if you don't have a very good operating system, the hardware isn't going to perform as well as a polished very good operating system. I'm not saying the OS for Xbox 1 is bad, although it is Windows 8 styled which PC's use.
Well to be exact, a Windows kernel, Xbox OS, and hypervisor Xbox 1 has 3 operating systems.

Xbox 360's Dashboard is as much web based as Xbox 1. Xbox 1 has more Xbox Live servers worldwide than Xbox 360 (300,000 to 15,000). With Xbox 360's Dashboard there isn't THIS level of lag when loading Friends Achievements etc on the Dashboard. Loading Friends,
Achievements, etc takes at least a few seconds longer than Xbox 360 when navigating both using only the controller. Even some of my American UK Australian and NZ friends told me they've had similar experiences.

 

I cant say I have had n major issues with the Xbox One UI if I am honest.

Didn't Microsoft announce a little while back that they would change the UI a little bit in the future to tie in with Kinectless consoles??

 

@Reidzer. Not sure about that...... Hope that's right though.

 

I've experienced freeze's when pressing the guide button in-game, zooms out to home and locks up where button presses no longer do anything for 20 seconds. If I close some active apps the problem is solved. Snap is always instant for me.

It's not perfect, but as a whole I don't have any consistant slow downs, so not a massive problem on my end.

 

It feeds me up too im deffo annoy about it.

 

I'm curious. The people who says it's slow, what speed internet do you have compared to the people who say it's instantaneous? I have slower internet, 12 down, .65 up (getting 30 down and 5 up in 2 weeks) and mine is slow at times so I'm wondering if it
has to do with internet speed?
