Starting minecraft on xbox one shows memory error

Hi,

my son got minecraft for xbox one as a christmas present. He can start the game, but when trying to create the world, this error is showing up:

You are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space.

The xbox has 470GB free disk space.

He is very upset, since he cannot play the game. I have no idea why this error occurs.

Any suggestions?

PS: I posted the question on https://www.minecraftforum.net, where I was told to contact xbox support. Contact is available only through chat, and no one has been answering the questions for 3 days.

I have cleared the local saved game - still the same error.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. This time skipping the update. Then I don't get an error message, but the game just exits (crahses?).

When I make the update, I get the same error message:

You are almost out of data storage space! Minecraft has restricted access to this feature until you clear up additional storage space.

A quick solution to most memory problems is to do a hard reset on your Xbox which will clear the memory cache. Have your system on, then hold the power button for 10 seconds for it to completely shut down. Then you can turn it back on and try again. (this
is a good first step with most errors, for future reference).

Hi there,

That's an odd error message to receive when you have plenty of storage space. It's possible some local saved data may be corrupted causing a bug in the hard drive when trying to save the world he's trying to create.

I suggest clearing the local saved data from the hard drive and re-sync his data from the Xbox Live Cloud Storage. As long as he has been connected to Xbox Live, his data is automatically backed up and nothing is lost.

Go to Settings>System>Storage>Clear local saved games and the Xbox should restart.

Give that a try and let us know if that helps!
