    I have searched through the support forums and found this thread as it is describing the exact problem you have.



    It wouldn't be your internet connection as it will only take a couple of minutes to sign in offline. By the looks of it it could be that you need to clear your cache as that helped someone else in the thread I posted.

    Check your internet connection, it will hang if it is taking ages to sign your default profile in

    Hi

    Firstly can you please try syncing your controller with the console as per the guide attached below.

    If this does not resolve your issue please carry out a console hard reset by holding the power button on the console for 5-10 seconds, once the console has shut down please disconnect remove the power cord from the wall outlet for 5 minutes then power up
    the console to see what happens

    If neither of these help with your issue you may need to return to gamestop and ask them to swap the console for you.

    It normally takes a couple of minutes if it's starting from cold boot. But if it's taking a long time, try doing a

    Power Cycle    . This usually fixes most common issues.

    But if that doesn't work, you might want to do a
    factory reset     instead.

    I would get the warranty/service process started if the system is not booting up at all. Since you recently bought it, it shouldn't be an issue but contact them for sure.
