    Stardew Valley keeps freezing on naming menus?


    First noticed the bug yesterday.

    I tried to start a new file, and when I went to name my character it froze and never recovered.

    I tried resetting the game and testing the fields for naming the farm or choosing your favorite thing and it froze then too.

    All of these options would have to open some sort of keyboard, and none of them worked.

    I played a file I made months ago that was on day one, and it played through just fine. I was worried when a naming menu came up for the cat, but for some reason it didn't freeze. I went with a default cat name, because I was worried trying to type a custom one would freeze the game again.

    I thought everything was fine, but when I went to purchase a chicken, it froze when a naming menu would have popped up.

    I tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the game and restarting my Xbox. Neither solved the issue.

    Is this something I can fix in my settings?

    Hi we are also having this problem, tried to get the game as a gift. Bought it on disk and froze as soon as we tried to click on name, uninstalled it and reinstalled multiple times. Then uninstalled it and bought a digital copy and had the same problem, tried it on external and internal hard drives. Would really like to get it to work.

    Could be a bug with the game itself, but let’s try to isolate the problem a bit more, for this tell me:

    Are you using an insider build / beta OS in your console?
    Do you have the game installed on the internal storage or did you installed the game on an external hard drive?
    Did you tried opening the game offline to see if that makes a difference?
