Star Wars Battlefront won't play on Xbox 360

I just purchased a Preowned Xbox 360 from Gamestop. It's a 250GB version with wireless internet. I tried to play Star Wars Battlefront (game disc), but whenever the disc is inserted the following message pops up:

"This original Xbox game is not supported on your Xbox 360 console. An Update to support this game may be available. For
more info, go to
Xbox.com | Games Home"

So far I've tried the following:

• Redownloaded the system update.
• Cleared the cache several times.
• Formatted the hard drive.
• Verified proper internet connection
• Verfied game is listed on backwards compatable list. It is.
• Verified hard drive is genuine Xbox version.
• Verified no 4gb Flash Drive inserted.
• Tried a different Star Wars Battlefront game disc - no luck, same pop up. The disc works on friends Xbox 360.
  
• Disconnected all power/internet connection and re-updated the system.
• Returned first Xbox 360 under warranty. Got a different one. Tried all of the above. Still get same pop up.
  
• Contacted Xbox support. No help beyond what's listed above.
• The system can read that the game is Star Wars Battefront because it lists the title on the screen.
  

At this point, I'm a bit stuck.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this problem?? Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you still play xbox originals on the 360?

Are you able to test any other original Xbox games?

Being that the consoles are used, it's hard to tell for sure if the hard drives still have the emulation software required or if they're knock offs. If you can test another game that could help narrow down whether it's the game or the hard drive/console.

 

Smwutches is on to something there is NO guarantee that the hard drive that came with your 360 is a legit hard drive meaning it would be missing those emulation that is needed to play old games. try another game if that game does not play but is on the
supported list then it is MOST likely you got a non legit drive sorry.

I'll try to get another original x-box game and give it a try.

I understand that it can be pretty hard to tell if it's a true Microsoft hard drive. Do you know of any way to tell if the HDD is a Microsoft Drive? (Visually or some other way?)

Do you happen to know of any download that can be used to reinstall the emulation software?

 

It can be very difficult to tell. Really the only way to tell is by playing original games. There is no way to download the emulation software.

There is no legitimate way to download the emulation software.

If the hard drive is a knockoff, then it won't work with any original Xbox games.

If that is the case, you should return it to GameStop and either demand a refund or an official hard drive.
